Job summary

A leading intervention service provider in Calgary is seeking a Behaviour Interventionist (BI) to implement programs designed by clinical teams. You will work closely within an interdisciplinary team to support clients with skill acquisition and address maladaptive behaviors in a dynamic, community-based environment. Overview

As a Behaviour Interventionist (BI) at Monarch House, your primary responsibility is implementing programs designed and supervised by a senior clinical team (including speech pathologists, Board-Certified Behavior Analysts^® BCBA, occupational therapists, and physical therapists) for clients receiving Monarch House services. You will work within an interdisciplinary team to support skill acquisition and/or decrease maladaptive behaviors while providing an engaging and positive client experience in a fast-paced and frequently changing environment.

Work setup and details

Please note: We do not offer LMIA or independent contractor setup.

Work setup: Community-based in Central Calgary. Part-time.

Headcount: 1

Salary: starting at $23.50 - 25 per hour

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:00 AM to 7:30 PM

• Responsible for implementing programs based on best practices.
• Uses systematic methods and behavioral strategies to support the client in changing their behavior.
• Contributes to the development of programs established by the clinical team to teach and reinforce a variety of skills for children and youth in a 1:1 and/or small group setting.
• Understands the functions of behavior and responds appropriately and safely when situations arise.
• Adheres to all clinical training, procedures, and protocols.
• Ability to adapt to changing conditions and/or routine and provide creative solutions.
• Responsible for creating a positive and engaging environment for the client.
• Supports clients with personal care tasks such as dressing, toileting, and eating.
• Maintains the well-being and safety of clients.

Here is what you will need to be successful

• 1–2 years experience working with children and youth with complex needs and/or developmental disabilities
• Pursuing or completed education in Psychology, Speech or Linguistics, Occupational Therapy or Kinesiology
• Education and demonstrated ability in ethical and professional practice
• Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 6 months
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills
• A valid driver’s license (Class 5) and reliable vehicle for daily use
• Legally authorized to work in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience working in client homes is a plus
• Enrollment in or degree from a post-secondary program of Psychology, Educational Psychology, Special Education or another related field is an asset
• Autism Spectrum Disorder specific coursework, training or workshops an asset
• Experience working with clients who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disabilities
