Applicants must be at least 19 years old and possess a Nova Scotia Operator’s License Class 2B with air brake endorsement. Good communication and reliability are essential in this role, which may involve varying schedules throughout the school year.

Spare School Bus Drivers are required on an “as needed” basis to support operations in the Annapolis Valley Centre for Education, throughout West Hants, Kings and Annapolis Counties. School buses travel on paved and unpaved roads in a variety of weather. Spare Bus Drivers are on call for a part-year (during September - June) and part-time (5 hours per day) and typically drive a morning and/or afternoon run for instructional days. Spare Bus Drivers may also opt to drive hours for extra- or co-curricular events.
Successful applicants are required to successfully complete an in-house training program in the safe operations of a school bus and First Aid/CPR.
