SUMMARY

The Associate Director, Data Operations, will guide the development and application of business intelligence tools / technologies, technical solutions, and data governance processes to address account needs. The role requires a strong familiarity with common media analytics and technology tools, both syndicated and proprietary. The ideal candidate will provide oversight of the data generated throughout the campaign delivery and performance optimization throughout its lifecycle. The role links the Digital Media, Marketing Science and Offshore Data Operations teams, as well as working directly with external stakeholders and partners. Candidate must have a mindset towards fostering processes through automation, as well as establishing data as the backbone of other PHD media disciplines.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Leads the interactions with the business stakeholders to establish overall data strategy to their business problems and challenges, including the ability to see growth potential within existing accounts
  • Leads and manages cross-functional and cross-organizational teams to understand complex data issues involving multiple systems, establish priorities, develop improvement plans, allocate resources and implement solutions
  • Architect, develops, and maintains flexible data repositories, databases, and reporting data solutions using standard PHD data processing and visualization platforms
  • Develops and enhances ETL processes for performance and scalability for data ingestion, data harmonization and data analytics needs
  • Creates, gathers and writes business requirements documents and technical requirements documents. Translates business rules for data cleansing, data harmonization and QA needs
  • Leads the design and build of highly effective visualization, dashboard and reports for both internal and external clients. Establishes update cadence and frequency by balancing internal teams' workload and client demands
  • Maintains ongoing management and stewardship of data management, processing and reporting
  • Works with the offshore teams to translate business requirements into final deliverable that is in accordance with client and PHD standards. Helps establish data operations best practices for on-going data management
  • Collaborate with Media / Ad Ops, Strategy and Media teams to develop client data taxonomy in accordance with agency and client standards. Held internal teams accountable for entering and uploading all media buys to various buying systems
  • Works with and promotes adoption of new and existing in-house media Data Operations tools and processes
  • Keeps up to date on digital operations - buy changes, creative specifications, etc.
  • Periodically evaluates and re-evaluates new and existing business intelligence tools / platforms to ensure they meet the changing requirements of media data and client account best practices
Data Governance & Documentation
  • Oversees documentation of processes, workflows and technical implementations of any project. Proactively identifies, proposes and generates targeted solutions for data quality issues and operational inefficiencies
  • Educates each business unit to maintain consistent and comprehensive documentation of data-related standards and processes
  • Leads the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive data management and integrity program, including leading a coordinated governance process involving key stakeholders
  • Troubleshoots problems through testing and bug fixing. Constructs reliable processes for error / exception handling, error management, and error notification. Ensures quality of assigned projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring industry data standards are appropriately utilized and leveraged to drive data quality and compliance and to ensure impact is minimized, mitigated appropriately
People & Project Management
  • Acts as liaison between PHD internal teams and offshore data operations team to manage the process for validating the implementation, optimization and reconciliation of all campaign data
  • Facilitate client communication and progression of tasks through regular status meetings and working sessions. Proactively elevate and resolve project roadblocks and issues
  • Works alongside Executive Director or Senior Director to address critical business issues and have tough conversations with internal teams and clients. Develops short-term plans to prioritize needs and resolve urgent issues
  • Fosters positive relationships and works with internal teams (Client Business Lead, Strategy, Digital Investment, Programmatic, Search, Social). Communicates roles, responsibilities and expectations in an effective manner
  • Builds positive relationships with vendors and partners. Encourages all vendors and partners to follow PHD best practices to meet data quality standards
  • Supervises offshore Leads and Analysts to perform data operations, data quality assurance and client management tasks. Provides guidance to team members and nurtures / promotes team environment
  • Reports to and works with Senior Director or Director of Data Operations to ensure accounts are following best data operations practices
  • Creates and manages project timelines and tasks in project management tools such as HIVE and Microsoft Teams. Develops effective project plans for new implementation and change logs for on-going data and account management
SYSTEMS AND TOOLS
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint knowledge
  • Work experience with Datorama, Alteryx, Tableau, and / or Amazon Stacks (Redshift, S3) required
  • Work experience with Google BigQuery, Google Data Studio, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft PowerBI and / or other BI tools (i.e. Snowflake, Looker, Domo, etc.) also preferred
  • Work experience with Project Management platform like HIVE, Asana, Smartsheet, etc.
EXPERIENCE AND SOFT SKILLS NEEDED
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in data operations and / or business intelligence
  • Media / advertising agency experience required
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience needed in :
  • Managing offshore team
  • Attention to details, strong verbal and communication skills, strong organizational and project management skills, can multi-task effectively
  • Ability to adapt to ever-changing data environment and drive best practices during on-going executions
