Job description
Overview

As an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management, Marketing, Logistics, and Business Analytics, you will teach and mentor students in Business Analytics, Data Science, and AI at undergraduate and graduate levels. You will conduct research in these fields, including machine learning, data mining, predictive analytics, large language models, and GenAI, and contribute to the university and community through service. This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track role beginning in August 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Business Analytics, Data Science, and AI.
  • Develop and deliver course materials, including new courses and curricula as needed.
  • Conduct research in business analytics, AI, and data science; publish findings in peer-reviewed venues; seek external funding where appropriate.
  • Engage in service to the university, the profession, and the community.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. in Business Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, or Machine Learning is required.
  • A Ph.D. in related fields such as Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics also acceptable, or demonstrated industry experience with AI/business analytics applications.
  • ABD applicants will be considered if their expected degree completion date is no later than August 1, 2026.
  • A Ph.D. in business must be from an AACSB-accredited institution. Non-business Ph.D. must be from an AACSB-accredited program or an equivalent accreditation (e.g., ABET).
Preferred Experience
  • Relevant industry experience in Business Analytics, AI, Data Science, or related fields is preferred.
  • Completion of relevant coursework in Business Analytics, AI, Data Science, or related fields is preferred.
Location and Relocation

This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska. Applicants must be able to relocate to Anchorage, Alaska by the position start date.

Appointment Details

This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty position with a competitive salary and full employee benefits. Salaries are based on education and experience.
