Job Summary And Requirements

This competition is to fill a four-year term position. The eligibility list established through this process may be used to fill anticipatory permanent positions within the department of Health and Social Services.

In addition, this competition will be used to certify candidates in the Government of Yukon’s Assistant Deputy Minister Registry.

This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon.

This opportunity

Reporting to the Deputy Minister of Health and Social Services, this position provides senior leadership for the division’s operational branches: Division Support Services, Family & Children’s Services and Social Supports Branch. The role sets strategic direction, ensures operational excellence, and serves as a key member of the department’s senior management team.

Essential qualifications

  • Post secondary education with a focus on health science administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • Recent senior management or executive experience, including leading diverse teams and complex programs, preferably in a health, social services, or related public sector setting.
  • Experience leading strategic planning initiatives across multiple divisions and programs.
  • Recent experience providing strategic advice on and navigating politically sensitive and complex issues.

Candidates who have education, training and experience equivalent to the essential questions, listed above, may be equally considered.
