Job description

This position will assist the Cannabis Manager in the operation of their Cannabis location to improve service, program execution and company profitability. This includes scheduling, appraisals, budgeting and attainment of financial results. Also including image, standards, implementation and adherence to company programs, policies and procedures, as well as human resources related activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Cannabis Store Manager to ensure the store adheres to Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission operating regulations.
  • Assist the Cannabis Store Manager with overseeing of the daily store management ensuring operation and management in accordance with company policies, procedures and overall expectations.
  • Assist in ensuring the store adheres to Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission operating regulations.
  • Provide ongoing written and verbal feedback to the Cannabis Store Manager regarding recommendations for continued improvement of store operations.Where necessary, assist in the development and administering mini-action plans for desired results.
  • Assist in providing direction and leadership to the store team toward building an ongoing positive, highly motivated, work force within the store.
  • Assist in the development and achievement of store budget objectives in the areas of sales, margins, expenses, profits, EHP and inventory turns.
  • Schedule staff according to sales needs, ensuring that EHP is adhered to.
  • Ensure the store’s merchandising standards are being managed and maintained in accordance to company expectations.
  • Assist in ensuring company programs are being implemented and managed in accordance to company expectations.
  • Assist in the store’s housekeeping, sanitation and maintenance schedules/standards are managed and being maintained in accordance to company expectations.
  • Ensure the store adheres to government regulations in the area of labeling, pricing, sanitation and food safety.
  • When required, attend and actively participate in commodity, labour management and Occupational Health and Safety meetings.
  • Provide information, assistance and courteous service to customers.
  • Order products and supplies according to needs using approved suppliers.
  • Use proper storage and handling for all inventories.
  • Take inventories and extend as per company schedules and policies.
  • Maintain receiving records and approve all invoices in accordance to company policy and procedures.
  • Along with the Cannabis Store Manager, assume responsibility for maintenance of price lists as provided by Head Office.
  • Along with the Cannabis Store Manager in being responsible for employee relations, including hiring, training and development, performance management and expectations, discipline, recognition, policy and procedure development, administration and enforcement, terminations and security.
  • Participate in the development and action of yearly performance work plans and development action plans.
  • Provide leadership in the areas of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) department including participate in OH&S activities, ensuring employees are knowledgeable about and comply with OH&S policies, procedures and legislation, assist in identifying unhealthy, unsafe situations and ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

The successful applicant will need to have the following qualifications and qualities:

  • Grade 12 education
  • Current SellSafe Certification
  • Knowledge of Cannabis strains
  • Working knowledge of regulations as it pertains to the selling of Cannabis in Alberta
  • Three years’ retail supervisory experience
  • Qualified Cannabis Worker status (letter from AGLC)
