Job Title: Apprentice/Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic

Responsibilities
- Positively participate in company safety and 6S program and adhere to all safety requirements.
- Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and maintain heavy duty equipment, on and off road.
- Able to perform complete repair and overhaul functions in a timely manner.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
- Installation of new and added-on equipment.
- Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and road calls when required.
- Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
- Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
- Other mechanical repair work as required.
Knowledge/Skills
- Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics.
- Experience with routine maintenance operations.
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
- Ability to meet all safety requirements including a valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and pre-employment drug, alcohol, and medical testing.
Experience/Education
- Candidates must possess a valid Red Seal Journeyman Certificate or be actively enrolled in a recognized pathway toward certification.
- Experience working with on/off road fleets would be an asset.
- Ability to perform Commercial Vehicle Inspections with certification would be an asset.
- Must have valid Class 5 driver’s license. Class 3 with Air Endorsement would be an asset.
Working Conditions
- Travel to off-site locations will be required.
- Overtime as required, including potential weekend shifts.
- Participation in an on-call rotation during summer and winter seasons.
- Work both indoors and outdoors.
- Be willing to work various shifts, including day and night shifts, as well out-of-town rotations.
- Must be able to meet all safety requirements, including passing pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
- May need to meet the requirements for Mask/Respirator Fit Test.
- Must operate within a 6S facility environment.
