Your opportunity

Under the direction of the Director, Alumni Programs and Services, the incumbent coordinates and implements innovative initiatives designed to increase alumni engagement and loyalty across a broad, diversified base of alumni across life-stage with a focus on integrating across demographic segments. Proficient in both physical and virtual program delivery, the incumbent organizes programs based on an assessment of market and demographic research and an awareness of evolving trends in effective communication with key demographic groups.

In addition, the incumbent works collaboratively with divisional colleagues, the Office of Student life, Career Centre, Marketing and Communications and other partners around the university to organize and market initiatives to engage students prior to graduation, and involve alumni in the enhancement of the student experience and the life of the University.

The incumbent proactively collaborates with Divisional and DUA Alumni Relations and Divisional colleagues to support programs and communications designed to increase alumni engagement across life-stage, community and affinity including alumni from equity-deserving communities, Family alumni community, and other alumni audiences. Responsibilities include but are not limited to alumni lifestage programs including Alumni Reunion, student ambassador programs, mentoring programs, career, and networking programming, and digital and web communications and social media management. The incumbent is also responsible for analyzing the success and impact of these initiatives and for adjusting them as required, based on results.

The incumbent is expected to enhance the awareness of university-wide new alumni initiatives. In addition, the incumbent is expected to take a role in encouraging and facilitating divisional based outreach efforts to new alumni. In that capacity, the incumbent works collaboratively with college and faculty based alumni staff and volunteers in facilitating divisional based new alumni outreach, both through the web and e-mail and traditionally executed programming.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Fostering positive relationships with alumni
  • Conceptualizing, organizing and executing event activities
  • Analyzing the impact of programming on alumni engagement
  • Assessing needs and contributing to the development and implementation of plans for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition
  • Implementing programs that allow current students and alumni to engage with one another
  • Promoting alumni engagement opportunities to academic units, graduating students, industry partners and alumni
  • Creating and maintaining presence on social media platforms
  • Writing post-event summary reports
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably from the University of Toronto; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in alumni relations, including planning and executing alumni initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience using market research and program data to evaluate initiatives and make recommendations.
  • Proficient in both in-person and virtual program delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience in using content management systems, preferably Word Press and IModules, have demonstrated proficiency in web and e‑mail based communications and a strong understanding and experience with social media.
  • Experience using social media on behalf of non‑profits and be willing to use personal social media accounts for work related activity.
  • Require familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; be comfortable using electronic databases and website content management applications
  • A passionate commitment to the university and its students, and bring energy and creativity to the role.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Detail orientated but able to understand how details relate to larger strategic initiatives
  • Ability to work independently but also take direction when needed
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability toprioritize and manage conflicting priorities and ability to work well under pressure.
  • The incumbent requires a high degree of tact, diplomacy and political and organizational awareness.
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about university life.
Assets (Nonessential):
  • Marketing or communications, program or event and volunteer management experiencean asset.
  • Experience with Blackbaud CRM, and/or CSS is an asset.
