Site Description: Halifax Stanfield is Atlantic Canada’s main full-service airport, offering access to markets across Canada, the US, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia. It provides Canada Customs services 24/7 and is the only airport in Atlantic Canada with U.S. preclearance and international to domestic processing.

Position Details:

• Position: Airport Security Officer (ACO)
• Site: Halifax Airport (HIAA)
• Overtime: After 48 hours
• Hours: Continental rotation - 0600-1600/1600-0600
• Payrate: $21.65
• Posting Date: March 3, 2025
• Closing Dates: June 30, 2025 (internal and external)

Schedule Example: 4 days on (2 days day shift/2 days night shift), 4 days off

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor terminal areas, perimeter, and access points 24/7 for safety and suspicious activity.
• Ensure tenants and guests comply with Transport Canada regulations.
• Perform regular patrols and safety checks of airport facilities.
• Respond to emergencies and act as incident commander until first responders arrive.
• Detect, respond to, and manage emergencies as directed by the Security Operations Centre.

Opportunities for career advancement include training in Security Operations Centre and Patrol roles.

Qualifications:

• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills, including working under pressure.
• Discretion with confidential information.
• Ability to pass security clearance and hold a RAIC.
• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
• Flexible availability, including weekends and overnight shifts (06:00-18:00/18:00-06:00).
• At least 19 years old, high school diploma, reliable transportation, valid driver’s license with 3+ years driving experience, and valid First Aid & CPR/AED certification (online not accepted).
