About the Opportunity

We are hiring Airport Security Officers to join our growing security team at the airport in Goffs, Nova Scotia.

As an Airport Security Officer, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of passengers, staff, and airport operations. You will be responsible for performing access control, screening, surveillance, and incident response, while providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

  • Shift-based schedule: 06:00–18:00 and 18:00–06:00
  • Includes weekends, overnights, and holidays as required

Key Responsibilities:

As an Access Control Officer, you will be working as the main Security detail for Halifax Stanfield International Airport. You will ensure the safety & security of all passengers, workers and flight personnel by monitoring the Primary Security Line or PSL at various gates and access points. You will ensure that only authorized individuals have access to the restricted areas beyond the PSL.

Other duties include:

  • 24/7 Monitoring the terminal areas, perimeter for safety concerns and suspicious behaviors.
  • Ensuring all tenants and guests are adhering to the regulations laid out by Transport Canada.
  • Performing regular patrols of airport facilities to ensure security and safety measures are upheld.
  • Conducting routine safety checks throughout the property.
  • Responding to emergency situations and acting as incident commander until relieved by first responders is a crucial responsibility associated with this position.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and overnight shifts (shift schedule: 06:00–18:00 / 18:00–06:00)
  • Must be at least 19 years of age and have a high school diploma
  • Reliable transportation to the airport
  • Valid driver’s license with a minimum of 3 years driving experience
  • Valid First Aid & CPR/AED certificate (Note: online-only certificates are not accepted)
  • Must be a current Nova Scotia resident
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Previous airport security or aviation security experience
  • Experience in law enforcement, military, or private security
  • Experience working in high-traffic public environments
  • Additional languages (French, etc.) an asset
  • Familiarity with aviation safety regulations
