Volunteer Opportunity Conditions
  • Location: In-person at our office.
  • Regions / cities:
    • Ontario: North Bay, Timmins, Kapuskasing, Hearst, Cochrane
    • Alberta: Edmonton & Calgary
  • Minimum volunteer hours/period: One 4-hour shift per week Monday through Friday for a minimum of 6 months. Schedule and time commitment are set during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.
You Will Do
  • Oversee and ensure smooth operation of the reception area at the office, including acting as first point of contact with the public.
  • Reply to general inquiries, information requests and voicemails, and direct incoming calls.
  • Provide access to the building, handle and relay couriers/deliveries, electronic and physical filing, and receive and process donations.
  • Assist personnel with booking shared equipment, spaces, and vehicles.
  • Support new personnel with onboarding and building orientations.
  • Support Supervisors/Managers with the general operation of administrative functions and special projects as needed.
  • Provide information and referrals on Canadian Red Cross services, programs, and volunteer opportunities.

  • Thrive at providing optimum customer service, comfortable interacting with the public.
  • Experience or interest working in an administrative environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and an understanding of cultural issues is an asset.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required, fluency in other languages is an asset.

A satisfactory Enhanced Police Information Check or equivalent is mandatory for all personnel volunteering or working with the Red Cross.
