Job Description: The Addictions Counsellor Degree Senior is responsible for supporting the coordination of admissions, clinical supervision of staff, providing clinical services and implementation of programs within the Concurrent Disorders (CD) Program. This position liaises, collaborates and influences other services within MHAS, health care providers, and CBO’s to build capacity and integrate treatment strategies for clients with co-occurring MH and substance use disorder. The incumbent is a competent practitioner who pursues a systematic approach and adheres to the Provincial Clinical Addiction Model for practice, evidence based practices in CD treatment and SHA philosophy, objectives and standards. They must be familiar with substance use, mental health and CDs knowledge bases, risks associated with clients who have CDs, strong leadership and presentation skills, and strong counselling skills. The incumbent will work with the CDs Nurse and staff to triage clients with acute and ongoing CDs.
