Term: Approximately 12 months

Position Summary:

Animbiigoo Zaagi’igan Anishinaabek (AZA) is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounts Payable Clerk to cover a maternity leave term. This full-time temporary role will support the Finance Department in processing payments, maintaining accurate records, and communicating with vendors in a timely and professional manner. The Accounts Payable Clerk plays a key role in ensuring the financial accuracy and accountability of AZA’s operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enter, match, and verify invoices with purchase orders
  • Process and prepare payments (cheques and EFTs) for approval
  • Verify account codes, approvals, and accuracy of claims
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date accounts payable files
  • Communicate with vendors to resolve discrepancies
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes
  • Ensure compliance with AZA’s financial policies and procedures
  • Provide administrative support to the Finance Department as needed
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, business, or office administration is an asset
  • Experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or a finance-related role
  • Experience with accounting or bookkeeping software is an asset
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential information
  • Familiarity with First Nation financial operations is preferred
Work Conditions:
  • Based out of the Beardmore Band Office
  • Regular office hours (35 hours/week)
  • A clear criminal records check may be required upon hiring
  • Must be committed to the full duration of the maternity leave term
