JOB DESCRIPTION

Midland Transport is currently seeking an Accounting Manager to be based out of our Head Office location in Dieppe, NB. Reporting to the Controller, the successful candidate will oversee the Accounting Department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and effective implementation of policies and procedures. The selected candidate will supervise the full accounting cycle and provide strategic reports for senior management.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure accurate and timely weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting by maintaining the integrity of the financial reporting and consistency across all operations
  • Oversee Accounting team, providing guidance, performance feedback, and development opportunities to support career growth within the company
  • Liaise with Financial Compliance Manager, external auditors, Corporate Finance and other Midland Departments to fulfill requests accurately and on time
  • Manage internal audit compliance items, reconsolidations, and ad hoc reporting etc.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to strengthen compliance, efficiency and accuracy across the department
  • Collaborate with all departments and sites in meeting company objectives and financial goals
QUALIFICATIONS
  • You have University Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • You have 7-10 years of relevant work experience
  • You have CPA designation
  • You have experience utilizing AS400, E1 etc.
  • You have an advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.)
  • You have proficiency in working with large-scale data
  • You have exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and prioritization skills
  • You have strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • You have a demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team
