A local municipality is seeking an enthusiastic Fitness Trainer to join the recreation team. You will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing tailored fitness programs, and leading training sessions. The ideal candidate possesses a diploma in community recreation and has relevant certifications, including CPR/AED and First Aid. This flexible, auxiliary role allows you to support clients in achieving their health goals in a welcoming fitness centre environment.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Fitness Trainer to become an integral part of our recreation team! In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for helping clients achieve their health and wellness goals through expert guidance, motivation, and personalized support. Your primary duties will include conducting individual assessments to evaluate clients' fitness levels and needs, creating tailored workout programs, and leading both personal and group training sessions. You'll demonstrate the safe and effective use of cardiovascular and strength‑training equipment, ensuring clients are using proper form and technique to prevent injury and maximize results. You’ll play a key role in maintaining a positive and encouraging atmosphere within our fitness centre, fostering a safe, welcoming, and inspiring environment where clients feel motivated to reach their full potential. The ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment within established guidelines, and adapt your approach to meet the needs of diverse clients is essential. In this position, leadership and measurable results will be critical indicators of your success. We’re looking for someone who is not only knowledgeable and professional but also passionate about empowering others to improve their overall health and well‑being.
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by a diploma or certification program in community recreation, leadership and/or sports science, and sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
This is an auxiliary position with no ongoing regular schedule of hours.
