AV Group NB Inc. Atholville Mill is currently recruiting for the following position:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe operations and maintenance activities in the Steam and Recovery area to achieve maximum production while meeting health and safety, environment, cost and quality objectives in compliance with corporate principles and guidelines.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with Steam & Recovery team to ensure that steam, power, water, air, cooking acid and other services are available to the various operating departments of the mill.
  • Work with Steam & Recovery team to ensure maximum performance of the Steam and Recovery through effective use of systems, procedures and resources.
  • Work with Steam & Recovery team with department budget and explain variances with appropriate corrective action taken as required.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities in the department.
  • Ensure accident/incident investigations and follow-ups are performed.
  • Coordinate major maintenance activities in conjunction with the Mechanical Supervisor.
  • Coordinate with production teams and Recovery and Power manager for aligning recovery and power operations with production plans.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with applicable OH&S legislation, Corporate, OHSAS 18001 and AV Group procedures & guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with N.B Boiler and Pressure Vessel Act and Regulations pertaining to departmental operations.
  • Ensure that production activities are in accordance with health, safety and environmental legislation EMS (ISO 14001) standards.

Qualifications:

  • 1 st Class Power Engineer license or 2 nd Class, willing to obtain 1 st Class or a Mechanical Engineering degree, willing to obtain a 1 st Class.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Previous pulp and paper experience considered an asset.
  • Flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities.
