Java Backend Developer
Job summary
A leading digital engineering firm is seeking a Java Backend Developer to enhance enterprise applications and ensure software reliability. You will be responsible for developing new features, maintaining existing applications, and participating in the complete development cycle. Ideal candidates should have strong Java, Spring, and database skills, with a focus on code quality and collaboration. This position offers a full-time remote work environment based in Brazil.
Qualifications
- Proficiency with Java and object-oriented development.
- Experience with Spring and ORM technologies like Hibernate.
- Ability to work in agile development environments.
Responsibilities
- Develop new features and maintain existing Java applications.
- Discuss and document design trade-offs with the team.
- Participate in the entire development cycle from requirements to testing.

As a Java Backend Developer, you will make a significant contribution to enterprise application development, system architecture, and software reliability by collaborating closely with cross-functional development teams.
- Development of new features and maintenance of existing Java applications;
- Raise and discuss trade-offs of different design approaches elaborating detailed design documents;
- Participation in the complete cycle of development from requirements gathering to development and testing;
Perform code reviews and maintain code quality standards.
- Proficiency with object-oriented software development in Java;
- Experience with Spring Framework;
- Experience with modeling, producing and consuming web services based APIs (RESTful or SOAP based);
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases;
- Extensive experience with Hibernate / JPA for ORM.
- Knowledge of agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban);
- Experience with automated testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito);
- JVM tuning and performance optimization skills.
