This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of Sabin Vaccine Institute. We are currently looking for a Vice President, Clinical (Research & Development) in the United States.
This executive role leads clinical development strategy for vaccine candidates, overseeing all clinical operations from early to late-stage trials within a mission-driven environment focused on global vaccine innovation. As a key member of the R&D leadership team, you will direct cross-functional collaboration, regulatory interactions, and program execution while managing teams and external partnerships. The role demands a strategic mindset and strong scientific expertise to ensure successful clinical development and regulatory approval in a highly impactful and collaborative setting.
Accountabilities:
- Lead clinical development strategy and execution for vaccine candidates across all trial phases, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Manage clinical teams, consultants, and cross-functional partners to drive clinical operations, safety, data management, and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as the primary clinical representative in interactions with investigators, regulatory bodies, partners, and funders.
- Oversee design and implementation of clinical trial protocols, safety surveillance, and reporting.
- Support business development activities including due diligence, pipeline expansion, and funding applications.
- Contribute to R&D leadership by setting strategic priorities, managing budgets, and mentoring staff.
Requirements- Medical Doctor (MD) degree or equivalent with a minimum of 16 years' experience, including 10+ years in vaccine clinical development.
- Extensive expertise managing global clinical trials, especially in low- and middle-income countries preferred.
- Deep knowledge of FDA regulations, ICH/GCP guidelines, and vaccine clinical trial best practices.
- Proven success leading high-performing teams and securing regulatory approvals.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience with government or philanthropic funding processes preferred.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
