What you will do:
Are you a passionate engineer to develop Hardware ECUs for automotive application? Then this role is for you.
- At Vehicle Technology, you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large.
- We are currently looking for a Development Engineer who excels at HW development within the EE area, such as ECUs, sensors and actuators and with an experience as a tester in the framework/non-functional/functional aspects within the electrical domain.
- Additionally, you possess excellent customer focus, delivery accuracy, and effective communication skills. Like our team, you are passionate about working in the automotive industry.

Main responsibilities:
- Able to understand the roadmap for ECUs from future perspective and work on concept building.
- Define and refine the technical requirements
- Maintain the ECUs that are already in production for Quality improvement and customer satisfaction
- Interface with related teams across different functions within Volvo R&D
- Support with RFQ, sourcing and supplier selection process as per the project requirements and milestones
- Review supplier design documents and secure conformity to the technical requirements, installation requirements etc.
- Ensuring solutions are verified and validated against requirements
- Be an active member of our agile team working with the JIRA backlog and secure product documentation and release processes
- Solve challenges in current products and solve quality issues as and when needed
- Support functional verification and fault tracing in vehicles as well as in rigs and lab environment
- Coordinate overall quality activities for the Hardware part (FMEA, Defect Reports)
- Validate documentation relating to the components, according to system/subsystem requirements and to the component Technical Requirement and supplier input.
- Perform integration testing prior to release
- Root Cause Analysis for issues raised by local testing teams
- Exploratory testing
- Coordinate release activities with local testing teams
- Document the released Test Activities as per the defined Volvo processes and systems
Who are you?
- Good level of knowledge in both Electrical & Electronics Technology
- Good domain knowledge on the Test & Verification area
- Experience with HIL testing and vehicle testing
- Knowledge with Power & CAN modules, Microcontrollers, High & low side drives, Sensor communication, Led drivers, H-Bridge Controllers etc
- Embedded systems – Good understanding for basic HW components (ECU’s, sensors, actuators and wiring harnesses and SW design (basic SW architecture, communication protocols, diagnostics).
- Complete know-how on end-to-end ECU hardware development and Validation
- Hands on experience with schematics & simulation Tools and exposure to development tools (CAN, CANoe, LIN etc.)
- Experience with ISO 26262 functional safety and Cyber security is an added advantage
- Knowledge with Ethernet and advanced communication protocols is an added advantage
- Experience in working with vehicle network architecture, communication & diagnostic protocols (CAN, LIN, J1939, ISO 14230, ISO 14229)
- Experience in hardware and Power management concepts, debugging Hardware Issues.
- Experience in using test and verification measuring and monitoring (preferably CANalyzer and/or CANoe) equipment
- Hands on experience in with lab equipment’s like Digital storage oscilloscope, multimeter, current probe, bus analyser, CAN Stress tool
- Strong communication skills and proven collaboration skills
- Fluent proficiency level of English, both written and spoken.
- Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree Electronics Engineering, Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Systems or equivalent
