We OfferWe are seeking a seasoned Senior Instructional Designer to lead the design, development, and delivery of innovative e-learning and blended learning solutions in Brazil.

In this role, you will combine hands‑on instructional design with leadership and project management responsibilities, guiding a team of designers, developers, and external partners while ensuring the delivery of high‑quality learning experiences and adherence to our global development framework.

Fluency in both Brazilian Portuguese and English are essential. This is a newly formed role and part of our expansion in Brazil.

The successful candidate will bring an entrepreneurial mindset, helping to shape the function and drive local growth, while collaborating closely with our established global teams. You will benefit from clear frameworks and support but also have the opportunity to influence and innovate within our learning design approach. This is a full‑time position based in our training centre in Rio.

Key Responsibilities

• Instructional Design: Analyze learning needs to scope and design engaging and effective e‑learning solutions; develop learning objectives, storyboards and assessments for both e‑learning and blended learning products aligned with adult learning principles and industry standards; apply instructional design models and learning methodologies to create engaging e‑learning experiences in accordance with Maersk Training's standards, style guides, processes, procedures, and templates.
• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and coach a team of instructional designers and e‑learning developers; assign and oversee tasks, providing guidance and constructive feedback to ensure quality and consistency; foster a collaborative, innovative, and high‑performance team culture; conduct performance reviews and support professional development.
• Project Management: Manage multiple e‑learning projects end‑to‑end, ensuring delivery on scope, quality, timeline, and budget; develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and resource allocation; work closely with the existing Digital Content Team and L&D Managers in the development of learning products; serve as the main point of contact for stakeholders, SMEs, and clients, ensuring clear communication and alignment of expectations; monitor project risks, dependencies, and quality assurance processes; drive continuous improvement in instructional design processes and project management practices; balance competing priorities while maintaining high standards in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in instructional design / e‑learning development, including 3–4 years in team leadership or project management.
• Proven success managing cross‑functional teams and complex e‑learning projects.
• Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and organisational skills.
• Fluency in both Brazilian Portuguese and English, with the ability to adapt learning and communication styles to ensure training is relevant and accessible to both local and international audiences.
