Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Manager, Data Engineering to lead the development, maintenance, and optimization of Podean’s data infrastructure and analytics systems. This individual will oversee a team of data engineers, provide technical guidance, and ensure the delivery of scalable, high-quality data solutions that empower decision-making across the business.

This is both a hands-on and managerial role - you’ll contribute to the design and implementation of pipelines and architectures while mentoring team members, setting best practices, and driving continuous improvement across our global data ecosystem.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of data engineers, providing regular feedback, career guidance, and technical support
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines and data workflows across multiple data sources (e.g., Amazon, Walmart, retail media platforms, and internal systems)
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including Analytics, Technology, and Media, to define data requirements and deliver high-impact solutions
  • Ensure data quality, security, and governance standards are consistently applied
  • Oversee the implementation and optimization of data storage solutions (e.g., BigQuery, Redshift, or similar cloud data warehouses)
  • Evaluate new tools and technologies to enhance data capabilities and performance
  • Collaborate with leadership to define the data roadmap and align it with business priorities
What We’re Looking For
  • 6+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, DBT, or similar)
  • Experience working with cloud-based data ecosystems (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
  • Deep understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and ETL best practices
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical teams
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, remote-first environment
