Main Responsibilities
- User and System Access
- User Management: Creating and editing user accounts, particularly using security solutions like RACF.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting
- Job Monitoring: Checking the status of jobs (e.g., with BETA92 or TWCP), identifying and partially resolving blocked or failed jobs.
- Interpreting and performing initial troubleshooting for common ABEND codes and return codes, such as S0C4 or S0C7.
- JCL Troubleshooting: Analyzing and correcting basic JCL errors, especially misconfigured job scripts; adjusting job control statements (e.g., JOB, EXEC, DD) for common errors.
- Ticket Handling: Creating and managing service tickets, documenting issues, and escalating to 3rd Level Support if deeper analysis is required.
- Dialogue monitoring; Queue and transaction monitoring: Monitoring queues for overflow and stuck messages; validating the status of transactions and programs.
- Resource Management and System Monitoring
- System Resource Monitoring: Checking and optimizing resources like CPU, memory, and I/O using tools like Icinga/Thruk (Nagios).
- Handling issues caused by resource bottlenecks without requiring deep system-level interventions.
- Application and Infrastructure Support
- Application Issues:
- Database Issues:
- Complexe Troubleshooting
- Job Rescheduling and Restart: Restarting failed jobs and adjusting job control statements, especially for common error causes such as incorrect input data or resource conflicts.
- Proactive Maintenance
- Performing regular maintenance tasks, such as system optimization and routine software updates, without deep system-level changes or interventions.
Requirements and Qualifications
Experience required
- 3 years of Mainframe operations

- ITIL Zertifizierung
Education
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering.
Qualification
- German proficiency (Speak, Read, Write) - B2, C1, or C2.
- English - B1, B2, C1, or C2.
- Preferable certification from IBM mainframe platforms, COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2 and other similar ones.
