Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Java application support engineer who will be a part of the global team responsible for supporting and maintaining critical Java‑based business applications for a global distribution business. The role requires a strong understanding of software development and support, and a passion for learning modern technologies. Employment type: Contract (long‑term). Job function: Information Technology.

Responsibilities
  • Use ServiceNow to track and resolve application incidents and service requests.
  • Provide solutions for resolving application issues, proactive maintenance, ensuring high availability, and optimizing application processes.
  • Perform incident management and root cause analysis for high‑priority and recurring issues; implement permanent fixes.
  • Monitor and optimize application performance to meet benchmarks.
  • Use backend and frontend languages to enhance performance, scalability, and security.
  • Work closely with stakeholders including business teams, developers, product managers, and QA.
  • Share knowledge with team members and stakeholders to align expectations.
  • Design and develop interfaces between ERP and legacy systems.
  • Proactively improve system processes, tools, and support procedures, including automation of manual tasks.
  • Handle installation, configuration, development, workflow design, monitoring, and upgrades of business applications.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of applications, support manuals, code, and inventory.
  • Keep records of issues and solutions.
Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of application support and development.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot problems, and quickly identify solutions.
  • Proficient in Java middle‑tier development, including stored procedures (Full Stack).
  • Experience with database architecture for robust solutions.
  • Knowledge of JUnit testing, automation tools, and scripting.
  • Experience with ERP systems and supply chain applications is a plus.
  • Experience with SAFE Agile methodologies and tools like Azure DevOps / GIT for deployments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
