We are seeking a highly driven and performance-oriented Customer Retention Strategist to join our team.
In this position at Common Thread Collective (CTC), you will play a pivotal strategic role, guiding our clients toward durable, scalable growth.
Your core responsibility is to deliver steady and reliable revenue through retention-focused initiatives—using data-backed insights to build accurate forecasts, shape strategic direction, and ensure consistent performance.
At CTC, your expertise is invaluable, covering the elements of CTC's strategic forecasting methods and the foundational principles of retention marketing.
Your impact goes far beyond managing email programs—you operate as a trusted advisor to our clients across all areas of retention strategy.
You clearly communicate the rationale behind our decisions, connecting forecasting insights to the email, SMS, direct mail, and other retention touchpoints we activate.

You also act as a strong advocate for CTC's unique retention methodology and the tools that support it.
As a Customer Retention Strategist, you lead with precision and purpose, ensuring every initiative is executed to the highest standard and tightly aligned with client objectives.

At least 2 years of hands‑on experience in email and SMS marketing, with proven execution across campaigns, automations, segmentation, and optimization.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in retention marketing, owning initiatives that drive predictable revenue, customer lifetime value, and ongoing lifecycle improvements.

Manage, align & work with the pod (growth strategist, media buyer, creative strategist).
Organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
Maintain data integrity across Statlas and other tracking tools.
Execute the Prophetic system for clients.
Build an Email Forecast, leveraging the Prophetic system and data analysis.
Execute monthly actualization vs forecast, adjusting resources to meet KPIs.
Integrate data analysis and client feedback into strategic plans.
Adopt new tools and tactics early for optimal performance.
Implement best practices across email, SMS, and additional retention touchpoints.
Track and update campaign status proactively.
Implement tests to improve campaigns.
Ensure deliverables are on‑brand 100% of the time with designers and copywriters.
Verify technical setup for all automations and campaigns.
Maintain alignment with client forecasts & strategy.
Execute the Prophetic system 100% within required timelines.
Deliver work with optimal quality and detail.
Champion communication, aligning clients on retention & revenue goals via the Growth Map.
Send daily performance updates and weekly Slack updates.
Report as required, collaborating with growth strategists and media buyers.
Contribute learnings back to the system for continuous improvement.
Collaborate on ideas and learning across teams.
Contribute to future company content production.
Fluent in English, persuasive and present ideas clearly to stakeholders.
Craft empathetic client messaging.

Your supervisor is Josh Tay, the Director of Retention.
You report directly to Josh, known for challenging the norms of retention marketing.
Working under Josh's guidance will push you to your limits in the best possible way.
Oversee profitable growth of retention channels: email, sms, direct mail, pop‑ups, push notifications, subscriptions, memberships, loyalty programs.
Write briefs and ensure the team can execute.
Complete accurate reports.
Analyze metrics and KPIs using Statlas and the Growth Map.
Collaborate with design, content and other teams to create compelling email content.
Ensure timely delivery of deliverables, managing internal projects.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
Client‑facing role; consult clients and solve business problems beyond the email platform.
Prioritize relational equity with team and clients.
First 30 days – $1.5K (Part‑time transition phase)
Give notice at your current job (if applicable).
Participate in daily training for first 15 days.
Shadow and support ongoing accounts during next 15 days while preparing to take on your own clients.
Transition to full‑time.
Begin managing your first 3 client accounts independently.
Continue growing your portfolio.
Earn bonuses based on hitting revenue targets.
Negotiate your term contract annually.
This will depend on the amount of clients and the quality of work.
