In this role as a financial expert based in Brazil, you will typically undertake tasks such as analyzing accounting and financial data, performing calculations, and documenting your work. You are expected to communicate effectively with other team members, and to take an interest in how your work fits into the overall project plan. You will work with senior members of the team and receive internal training, on‑the‑job coaching and mentoring.
The role provides analytical and strategic support to expert testifiers, counsel and clients in litigation and disputes in local and international arbitration, antitrust, intellectual property, and other areas.
The financial expert will assist team leaders in providing analytic support and advisory services in the context of fast‑moving litigations/dispute resolution matters across a wide range of industries.
Examples of activities performed in this role:
Produce discrete pieces of economic analysis that contribute to, for example, calculate lost profits and damages caused by conduct at issue, using company financial records, business plans and publicly available quantitative research. This includes economic modeling (counter‑factual / but for modeling) mostly based on discounted cash flow (DCF) modeling
To understand, synthesize, and analyze large volumes of data associated with complex litigation cases. This includes accounting records review and related documents
Conduct research using a variety of resources including specialist applications such as Bloomberg and S&P Capital IQ
Write research memos for discussion with clients and senior team leaders. These memos detail the assumptions, economic methodologies, and the results of analysis performed
Critically appraise reports and analyses produced by other firms and experts
Manage a distinct part of a project, including regularly updating analysis, tracking documents and communicating this to the rest of your project team
Process and clean large data sets produced by parties in a litigation using statistical and analytical skills
Assist in the production of expert reports by producing charts, tables, exhibits, etc

Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Engineering or Statistics, or a related quantitative field
2+ years of relevant full‑time work experience with quantitative analysis (e.g., econometric and statistical modeling, forecasting models, micro‑simulation models, valuation analysis, damages modeling)
Experience in valuation, corporate finance or accounting with experience integrating valuation , finance and accounting
Strong writing and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English
Full proficiency in English
Project management experience that includes interacting with and presenting to senior‑level team members and clients
Availability to travel to FTI offices and client(s)
Experience in accounting maters, business valuation and/or damages assessment
Experience in antitrust/competition matters
Experience on statistical analysis software (e.g., Stata, R, Python)
Master’s Degree in Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
Technical writing skills (e.g., expert report writing, footnotes and citations, formatting tables and figures)
The ability to interpret regulation and legislation to model impacts of actual or proposed changes on stakeholders
Proficiency in Spanish
