About the Role: S&P Global Commodity Insights is seeking candidates for the Commodity Associate Program (CAP) who will be trained on how to gather and analyze pricing information for selected commodities in preparation for placement on a team as a commodity price reporter. Start date in January 2025. Please submit your application in English.

- Participate in an 8-month rotational program with three weeks of initial training, two three-month rotations in different commodity sectors, and an additional week of training between rotations. Final placements on a commodity team are made after training and rotations.
- During the 8-month program you will learn about Oil, Power, Natural Gas, LNG, Coal, Petrochemicals, Metals, Agriculture, Shipping and renewable energy markets, including supply and demand, infrastructure issues, geo-political issues, transportation and regulation, and how these subjects impact markets.
- Receive training in the price reporting function and generate price assessments and content (market commentary and news pieces that power our prices).
- Be involved in gathering data and market intelligence and conducting analysis on the assessment and reporting process.
Responsibilities
- Assess Markets: Evaluate the value of a commodity or set of commodities in line with the methodology. Communicate with market participants throughout the day. Be rigorous when using mathematics and Excel spreadsheets.
- Write high-quality market commentaries: Provide subscribers with detailed and well-written daily market commentaries with the rationale behind price movements.
- Report news and analysis: Share information about supply and demand, government data, regulations, trader movement, price trends, geopolitical issues, and other topics blended with creative reporting that generates original news.
- Engage with the industry: Find and nurture new market sources and maintain existing sources to ensure first-hand knowledge of market developments and methodology changes, ensuring open channels of communication.
Qualifications
- Completion of a degree by December 2025.
- Journalism, Communication, and Economics majors are preferred, but candidates from all majors are welcome.
- Must possess proper documentation to travel to the US for training.
- Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of Spanish is a plus.
- Previous experience or a strong interest in commodity markets is highly desirable.
- Strong numeracy skills, including statistics; ability to conceptualize proportional relationships; and an understanding of economic principles.
- Proficient with Excel and other Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication skills, with clear and concise writing, strong verbal skills, and effective listening.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with great attention to detail.
- Able to learn quickly, multi-task, and thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
