Mission
As the Executive Manager, you will be responsible for leading feasibility studies, development of PDDs / IDDs, technical implementation and monitoring of PDDs / IDDs on agriculture & REDD+ and forest carbon activities in project sites throughout Latam, mobilizing field teams, monitoring on‑ground performance, coordinating and ensuring achievement of project results and objectives. Jointly with the global team, you will work on the assessments, design and development of specific project design elements.
- Lead and support the development of feasibility studies focused on assessing the viability of a carbon project to create a certified carbon asset (e.g., offset, Scope 3 inventory reporting, value chain interventions, product labels, narrative claims) targeting nature‑based solutions
- Evaluate opportunity and eligibility to create different carbon assets aligned with specific project goals and recommend a carbon asset and certification scheme that meets project goals
- Evaluate host country considerations (e.g., NDCs, double counting) and develop a high‑level risk assessment of project eligibility to obtain certification of different carbon assets
- Identify timelines and requirements of certification schemes
- Lead and support the development of the Project Design Documentation (PDD) or Intervention Design Document (IDD) and other supporting documents needed to assure efficient project certification
- Supervise the development and implementation of projects to guarantee processes needed for successful project development and credit issuance on registry (e.g., data collection, soil sampling, monitoring/annual reporting, public consultation process, project validation/registration and project verification)
- Support in‑country agronomic, marketing and sales teams with specific project development knowledge
- Implement technical activities related to forest carbon / REDD+; in particular around methodologies and protocols to apply
- Supervise REDD+ activities and pilot projects
- Timely preparation and submission of reports and other deliverables
- Design and provide training as necessary to partners, beneficiaries, and counterparts
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s Degree in Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Geographic Information Systems, or a relevant international development field.
- Work Experience: Robust years of relevant technical experience in developing or reviewing nature‑based solution projects, forest carbon, carbon accounting, climate change mitigation, REDD+, CDM, and natural resource management projects.
- Demonstrated knack for project management in the sustainability space with significant years of experience in driving and supporting climate‑responsible projects coupled with a strong understanding of global standards/protocols/markets such as CDM, VCS, VCI, ACR, or Gold Standard.
- Strong understanding of the national or international regulatory carbon schemes is important.
- Experience developing and/or reviewing at least one PDD or IDD.
- Has experience working on nature‑based solution or REED+ projects; has deep knowledge of different methodologies and protocols.
- Demonstrated and proven record to work in a multidisciplinary team under changeable and complex circumstances.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Creative problem‑solver, positive can‑do attitude, personally mature, organizationally sensitive, intellectually capable, and assertive.
- Agile skills and mindset.
- Team spirit.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English.
- Spanish is desirable.
