Job Description

The Johnson & Johnson LATAM Technology Services (TS) team is seeking a passionate leader with an interest in working within the life science industry for the Manager of Application Development. This role will be based in Sao Paulo or São Jose dos Campos, Brazil. Purpose

This is a highly technical, collaborative role responsible for leading project implementations and providing technical support. The manager will lead a team that delivers support, enhancements, and projects for Johnson & Johnson TS initiatives with a product‑technology focus on visualization, full‑stack development, and artificial intelligence. Responsibilities include managing projects, incidents, break/fix work, service requests, and problem management. This role drives continuous improvement in application delivery and maintains ongoing relationships with Technical and Business Product Owners and Chapter Leads across North and Latin America.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver support, enhancements and projects across North and Latin America, ensuring that the project under his/her leadership is delivered on time, on budget and meets compliance requirements.
  • Analyze business needs, develop/propose solutions and estimate/quote projects.
  • Provide regular and detailed appropriate reports back to stakeholders and at all levels of management and staff about the status of the delivery.
  • Responsible for overall Engineering, roadmap, and technical decisions for the product in coordination with the Product Owner, Product Group Engineer and Architect Lead.
  • Partner with IT Technology Services peers in other regions so that best practices and standardization are applied to LATAM platforms, lead and facilitate effective meetings across a global space.
  • Ensure timely adoption of new technologies and innovation, select and resource ideas to explore via ideation sessions where necessary.
  • Work closely with the Technical Product Manager to define Product strategy/vision.
  • Work with squads to problem‑solve technical challenges and implement solutions, using the squad technology strategy as a guide; is “hands‑on‑keys” coding while also supporting system/design/code reviews for squad – inclusive of assembling, writing and approving enablers.
  • Negotiate technology options with business partners and collaborate with platform/product teams to identify opportunities to leverage platforms.
  • Manage development and review cadence, align tech landscape across squads to promote reusability, scalability and modularity.
  • Monitor product / platform developments and drive leading engineering practices for higher tech quality.
  • Help Product Owners/Lead Engineers prioritize technical backlogs (across squads) and coach / mentor product and squad members.
  • Works with squads and other Product/Chapter Lead Engineers to manage risks and solve, elevate, and track cross product dependencies and impediments.
Required
  • B.A. / B.S. degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or another related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrable experience in lifecycle management project implementation as manager.
  • Experience working on global teams.
  • Significant experience in project management and related operations, able to take initiative and drive projects to successful completion.
  • Extensive experience in Agile Framework Development is required, including team creation, leadership, product / platform standards, governance processes, and change management.
  • Previous people management experience (direct or indirect leadership).
  • Ability to lead team members across squads, from different technical functions, with varying skills, expertise, tenure.
