Job description
Overview

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for governing Bin Management (warehouse and store backroom bin integrity) and leading Back Store Operations across the retail network to ensure high inventory accuracy, fast replenishment, and strong shrink controls. This role standardizes back store processes, improves space utilization and productivity, and ensures system-to-physical alignment through disciplined execution, audits, and capability building of store and warehouse teams. The role partners closely with Retail Operations, Store Teams, Merchandising, Planning, Transport, Loss Prevention, and IT/WMS to deliver reliable product availability and efficient stock flow from DC to shelf.

Responsibilities
  • Bin Management Governance (DC + Store Backrooms)
  • Design, implement, and maintain bin architecture: zoning, bin types, capacity rules, replenishment paths, and bin labeling standards.
  • Ensure bin-to-SKU discipline through governance: bin creation/change controls, bin movement protocols, and exception handling.
  • Lead cycle count strategy aligned to bin/SKU criticality (ABC classification), ensuring accurate counts, variance resolution, and control improvement.
  • Drive slotting and re-slotting based on velocity/seasonality to reduce pick time, mis-picks, and unnecessary re-handling.
  • Establish bin accuracy audits and corrective action routines, ensuring sustained compliance across sites and stores.
  • Ensure health & safety compliance and adherence to operational standards in warehouse and store backroom environments.
  • Back Store Operations Excellence (Retail Stockroom Operations)
  • Own and standardize end-to-end back store processes: receiving, put-away, replenishment to floor, returns/RTV, transfers, and damaged/quarantine handling.
  • Implement store backroom layout standards (space planning, zoning, segregation, high-value controls) to improve speed and reduce congestion.
  • Set daily/weekly operational cadence with stores: replenishment routines, backlog management, and peak trading readiness plans.
  • Ensure strong receiving compliance at store level (scan discipline, timely GRN/system posting, discrepancy documentation and closure).
  • Build store capability through structured training and coaching for back store teams and store leadership on bin discipline and SOPs.
  • Inventory Accuracy, Shrink Control & Compliance
  • Own inventory integrity outcomes: stock accuracy, bin accuracy, cycle count completion, and variance closure discipline.
  • Lead investigations for variances, aging, damages, and shrink: root cause analysis, corrective actions, and prevention controls in partnership with Loss Prevention.

The incumbent is responsible for setting clear objectives and performance targets in collaboration with team members, ensuring alignment with overall organizational goals. This role involves actively mentoring, guiding, and providing direction to the team to cultivate skill development, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement. The incumbent applies structured performance management practices to monitor progress, troubleshoot issues, and drive the team towards achieving periodic KPIs. Through strategic oversight and regular feedback, the incumbent fosters a results-oriented environment, empowering the team to meet and exceed established benchmarks while supporting both individual and collective growth.
