The Vice President of Corporate Development for Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa will be based in Dubai and report to the Senior Vice President, Global Head of Corporate Development. This position is responsible for identifying, developing and executing strategic inorganic opportunities across the European region related to potential equity investments, acquisitions and joint ventures. The role requires a big-picture thinker who can connect with the payment and fintech industry environment and identify lateral opportunities across geographies and industries. The candidate should be able to understand and synthesize market and industry insights, identify competitive trends and partnership opportunities. The role also requires cross-functional coordination to support successful investment and acquisition execution, navigating Mastercard to gather key information cross-functionally and promote potential strategic investment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop the EEMEA Corporate Development pipeline with Regional President, Division Presidents, Regional Product, Market Development
  • Work with division and in-country leadership teams to identify opportunities and create Target Investment Profiles based on regional product and country-specific strategies; provide guidance, expertise and challenge
  • Generate Investment Rationales : partner with global business units and regional executives to assess growth strategies suitable for strategic investments and / or acquisitions; produce geographic / product strategy matrices, target profiles, and capability heat maps
  • Market Engagement : maintain active engagement with market players (PE / VC, investment banks, etc.) to ensure market visibility
  • Target Investment Profile Development & Execution : convert inorganic growth objectives into investment profiles; source, screen and prioritize deal execution
  • Investment Business Case Building : structure end-to-end strategic and financial analyses; apply frameworks to develop concise recommendations
  • Lead Joint Ventures, Equity Investment and Acquisitions : pursue and structure complex transactions; develop valuation, synergy analyses, and lead deal approval discussions
  • Selective Leadership of Corp Dev initiatives beyond EEMEA : lead global product-area initiatives and drive select corporate development opportunities across other regions
  • Cross-Functional Coordination : develop understanding of products and markets to advance relevant investment opportunities
  • Cross Team Transaction Execution : lead or support due diligence, approvals and definitive documentation as appropriate
All About You
  • Relevant industry knowledge and curiosity about market trends and their impact on Mastercard’s business model
  • Demonstrated success in Strategy and Corporate Development leadership roles
  • Fintech / Payments industry knowledge preferred; Corporate Development and Investment Banking experience highly desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or postgraduate strongly preferred
  • Global / international experience with strong multi-cultural sensibility
  • Strong relationship management and negotiation skills; ability to influence across Mastercard
  • Strong Project Management skills and ability to coordinate complex processes with stakeholders
  • Highly motivated with a strong work ethic; able to operate in a global, matrixed organization
  • Fast learner with ability to link diverse information to the business; discretion with confidential information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for senior-level audiences
  • Ability to link data analysis to business implications
  • Experience developing Board-level materials desirable
  • Sound judgment to act autonomously and escalate issues as required
