A leading healthcare provider in Abu Dhabi is looking for a qualified Staff Nurse to deliver patient-centered care. The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and a commitment to professional development. The role includes assessments, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in alignment with SEHA policies. Key responsibilities involve patient advocacy and ensuring best practices in clinical settings. Demonstrates critical thinking, conflict management and problem solving ability. Promotes an interdisciplinary team approach based on mutual respect and direct communication between health professionals to provide patient and family centred care. Identify, manage and report incidents to immediate supervisor and to physician as required. Acts as role model to fellow nursing staff. Promotes a suitable learning environment for staff, acts as mentor/preceptor as needed. Supervises practical nurses and practical midwives, junior staff and student nurses to ensure the provision of safe and effective patient care. Demonstrates a working knowledge of resource consumption and practices within a cost effective framework. Actively participates in organisational change in a constructive manner. Performs in‑charge duties as delegated.
Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in accordance with the organisation’s policy and procedures and the unit scope of service. Demonstrates knowledge in and compliance with the completion of documentation in an appropriate time‑frame according to BE policies and guidelines. Demonstrates ability to navigate Malaffi accurately and efficiently. Uses the individualized, integrated plan of care to guide and prioritise care throughout the episode incorporating discharge planning and setting measurable goals daily which are transparent to the patient. Assumes accountability and responsibility for own practice and does not carry out tasks beyond level of competence. Utilises evidence‑based practice in the provision of care. Identifies significant changes in patient condition, initiates appropriate action and reports to immediate supervisor or physician as appropriate. Utilises early warning scoring tools where appropriate to identify deterioration in a timely fashion and escalates care appropriately as per SEHA policy. Demonstrates knowledge in the assessment and re‑assessment of pain and complies with BE policies, guidelines and documentation in the treatments and escalation of pain management. Prioritises patient care based on ongoing assessment of patient needs. Participates in the referral process and utilises available resources for the provision of comprehensive care to patients and families. Demonstrates service excellence and acts as a patient advocate to support the patient’s rights and dignity at all times. Facilitates a climate of mutual understanding, and appreciation of cross‑cultural differences inherent in a multicultural society. Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with the seven rights of medication administration, high‑risk medication and narcotics policy and the medication reconciliation process. Is accountable and responsible to practice within the Ministry of Health and HA‑AD Narcotic Policies and Procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with the reporting of medication errors including near‑misses or adverse drug reactions on Patient Safety Net. Responds to all levels of emergencies according to the organisation’s policies and procedures.
Upholds the organisation’s customer service standards at all times. Demonstrates ability to communicate clearly, timely and concisely using appropriate channels respective to the situation. Facilitates effective communication between the patient, family and the interdisciplinary health‑care team as required. Actively participates in meetings, rounds and case conferences in the role of primary nurse. Provides comprehensive clinical handover and reports as required to ensure patient safety. Demonstrates understanding of and compliance with SBAR. Establishes and maintains professional boundaries with patients and members of the health‑care team. Recognises appropriate communication channels respective to the situation.
Participates in quality improvement activities by assisting with the development, implementation and review of policies, procedures and guidelines. Actively contributes to the organisation’s culture of patient safety. Monitors and assists in evaluating unit operation and services in order to correct problems, improve systems and ensure safe patient care. Ensures provision of a clean and safe working environment that minimises risks to patients and family. Identifies risk in the environment, escalates and maintains records of reporting if appropriate. Demonstrates knowledge of and is compliant with isolation precautions and hand hygiene. Is compliant with all annual mandatory Health and Safety training as per BE policy. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of, and compliance with International and DOH patient safety goals.
Assess patient and family education needs, plan for and provide education and evaluate outcome. Ensures patient and family are provided with comprehensive information and resources to meet their health‑care needs. Provides a suitable environment that supports patient and family learning. Engages in health promotion activities in the healthcare organisation and community. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team in the planning, implementation and delivery of patient education process. Implements the appropriate educational theories/established practices to promote health and wellness.
Practises within the scope of practice as defined by the regulatory body. Adheres to the Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and the organisation. Completes mandatory and unit specific competencies and demonstrates ongoing compliance with appropriate evidence. In conjunction with, but not limited to, the Manager / Charge Nurse / CRN, identifies own professional learning needs and develops a learning plan as required. Participates in self and peer evaluation including reflective practice. Initiates or participates in clinical research that contributes to continual improvement in standards of care. Develops and maintains own Professional Portfolio. Obtains accredited and non‑accredited Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) units in compliance with HAAD requirements.
The staff nurse will also be expected to contribute to the wider corporate and organisational development needs as appropriate within scope of practice. The staff nurse will be expected to ensure compliance with the requirement of the Health and Safety regulations of the hospital. Demonstrates integration of the unique knowledge and technical skills required for the specialty as per the role specific clinical practice definition in Appendix 1 and the SEHA competency and training matrix.
Complying consistently with facility policies, procedures and practices and ensuring alignment with SEHA facilities policies. Completing and maintaining regulatory requirements including: licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time‑frames.
Maintaining confidentiality with regards to any information exchanged or received in the current capacity of role in accordance with release of information and password SEHA policy.
Assuming the role of a brand ambassador for the facility and promoting a customer focused philosophy in dealing with any stakeholders. Maintaining positive and effective working relationships within the department/division and also with other departments/sections within the facility. Performing any other duties as may be assigned relevant to the basic responsibilities of the role.
Adhering to requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and infection control guidelines. Understanding and adhering to emergency preparedness plans/policies.
Recognising the necessity of continuously developing skills and acquiring additional knowledge appropriate to the position.
