Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description
JOB PURPOSE

Senior Specialist Trading Contracts provides pre and post deal commercial advice to the business, reviews and approve all draft sales confirmations & amendments, responses to 3rd party contracts and counters, ensuring that all such agreements fully comply with the company’s policy and control framework.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide pre- and post-deal commercial advice to Front Office ("FO") on deal construction and the commercial, contractual and financial risks/exposures associated with (proposed) transactions and identify areas of opportunities for value creation as well as value leakage
  • Review and approve draft sales and purchase Confirmations, responses, amendments, and counters, ensuring that all contract correspondence is fit for purposes, consistent with the deal capture system and accurately reflects the terms agreed by the parties
  • Ensure that all agreements comply with company’s policies including (but not limited to) compliance language, law and jurisdiction, confidentiality, and sovereign immunity
  • Highlight and report any identified deviations or breaches of company’s policy in the Incident Management system
  • Provide support to FO and other functions related to negotiating, drafting, and reviewing complex agreements including term deals, tenders, storage agreements, and master/side letter agreements with an emphasis on negotiating terms and conditions that maximize value, mitigate contractual exposures, and minimize profit leakage.
  • Provide support and guidance to FO and other functions in resolving contractual disputes with counterparties, liaising with company’s legal department when required
  • Review 3rd Party terms and conditions and negotiate amendments as required to minimize contractual exposure and ensure compliance with company’s policy and standards.
  • Act as the gatekeeper for setting up and managing contract clauses and contract templates in the system
  • Maintain accurate records of all confirmations, contracts, and other records, ensuring that they are stored in accordance with the company’s policy
  • Support Department Manager in onboarding and delivery of training on trading contracts to company new joiners
  • Support Department Manager to ensure that all company codes of conduct are adhered and operation risks are minimized
  • Assist with contract and policy compliance initiatives
  • Assist trading team in interpreting contract terms & conditions
  • Support establishment and implementation of counterparty physical contract workflow policies and processes
  • Carry out any other reasonable and lawful request directed by the Management
  • Maintain and ensure confidentiality at all times
  • Represent the company in a positive and professional manner
  • Adhere to the company’s rules, regulations, procedures and policies at all times

Education
