Overview of the role

Al Futtaim are seeking an experienced Client side electrical engineer to work as part of a small MEP team. The Senior Electrical Engineer will contribute to multiple projects from design and planning through to completion, providing strategic and detailed input for electrical power and ELV systems, including consultant and contractor selection and tendering processes. The candidate will act as the technical client’s representative, ensuring that all electrical engineering aspects of the company’s real estate projects are designed, reviewed, and executed to the highest standards. The role includes leading and managing engineering consultants, reviewing and approving technical submissions, and overseeing the construction phase to ensure compliance with project specifications, safeguarding technical integrity, schedule, and budget while delivering high-performance, sustainable, and safe electrical systems. The candidate should be capable of handling multiple projects across the Al Futtaim portfolio, which may include retail malls, tenant fit-out, new residential villas and apartment complexes, hotels, offices and workshops, and luxury private housing.

What you will do

Responsibilities

1. Project Delivery Quality

• Contribute to project briefing and technical standards for electrical engineering aspects of all projects.
• Review all Project Design Stages from Concept to Detailed Design to ensure compliance with project design intent and business requirements.
• Produce formal review/approval status reports for consultant and contractor designs and manage the respective parties\' responses and close out.
• In conjunction with other members of the project team, ensure that the completed project is delivered to the defined quality standards.
• Assist Project Team in evaluating site problems and solutions and the testing and commissioning of key works.

Project Delivery Progress

1. Monitor project progress by working with the project team and report on and initiate measures for corrective actions if the project falls behind milestones and programme targets.
2. Procures actions from team members and monitor and report on the results of these actions.

Project Delivery Cost

1. Responsible with the project team to monitor costs and prepare and manage actions to maintain cost targets.
2. In conjunction with the cost team, evaluate variations and prepare budget estimates for the works.

Project Value Engineering

1. Undertake regular value engineering exercises within the project team to ensure engineered solutions stay within project cost parameters.
2. Pro-actively evaluate solutions that recognise life cycle costs, particularly for client side where projects are often owner/occupier.

Project Reporting & Documentation

1. Maintain project progress records for inclusion with overall project reporting; coordinate with the Project Team to ensure complete designs and contractor documentation.

Tender Documentation

1. Assist in the preparation of contract documentation to manage project elements.
2. Provide technical input to consultant design RFPs, review and technical assessment of proposals.
3. Oversight of contractor tender documentation, including review and technical assessment of proposals.

Required skills to be successful

• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering systems (LV, MV, HV, power distribution, lighting, ELV, etc.).
• Understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
• Proficiency in reviewing design drawings, specifications, and technical submittals.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.

What equips you for the role

• Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum total of 15 years of work experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership/senior engineering role.
• Minimum of 10 years of direct experience managing large, complex real estate projects with responsibility for site analysis, permitting and approvals, budget control, estimating, design, construction and project management.
