THE ROLE

Reporting to the KBR Commercial Director and responsible for the contract management of the contracts during tender stage working with the procurement department through to completion final account and handover.

Project Description

KBR has been appointed under a framework agreement with Aldar Projects in Abu Dhabi to oversee a diverse portfolio of projects that contribute to Abu Dhabi's growth. This includes developing essential infrastructure such as transportation networks and utilities alongside public spaces and involving also the shaping of thriving communities by managing the development of residential housing projects and ensuring the quality of new educational facilities together with the development of mosques and maximizing urban space through infill development projects. This PMC role offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on Abu Dhabi's built environment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Leads and directs all contractual aspects of executing the programme management consultants role on a major programme of infrastructure development works;
  • Interface with senior management team to meet overall programme deliverables;
  • Establishing procedures for award and administration of Project contracts;
  • Directs the contracts team to ensure that they meet the Project objectives by establishing contracts and securing materials equipment and related services on time and within budget in an ethical manner at all times in accordance with procedures;
  • Management of the contractual aspects of executing the programme management consultants role on a major programme of mixed use development and infrastructure works;
  • Management of all aspects of contractual claims arising from the execution of contracts as part of the programme management consultants role on a major programme of infrastructure development works in an ethical manner at all times in accordance with procedures;
  • Precision is key in reviewing and drafting contractual notices to ensure all terms are accurate and enforceable;
  • Respond to project‑related letters of a contractual nature ensuring timely and accurate communication.
  • Review all incoming and outgoing project‑related letters to ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions;
  • Interface with other teams to meet overall programme deliverables including for review of claims;
  • Executing the processes in accordance with the procedures to anticipate where possible to mitigate handle and advise on all aspects of contractual claims;
  • A solid understanding of construction contracts and relevant regulations is essential to ensure compliance and mitigate risks;
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with contractual obligations and project delivery;
  • Provide expert advice on contractual matters including risk management and dispute resolution;
  • Assists in the development of the contracts and procurement strategy standards policies procedures and best practices;
  • Manages and provides support to the contracts management team to ensure that they meet the Project objectives by establishing contracts and securing materials equipment and related services on time and within budget in an ethical manner at all times in accordance with procedures;
  • Manages the monitoring and reporting of contracts administration performance by Consultants Construction Supervisors and Contractors to ensure fulfilment of their obligations &
  • Review recommendation reports
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
  • BSc Quantity Surveying, construction management, engineering, architecture or appropriate equivalent;
  • Minimum overall relevant experience 22 years.
  • Minimum relevant experience 8 years in the role;
  • Minimum Regional Experience 5 years;
  • Professional memberships and charterships required MRICS or equivalent;
  • Sound knowledge of all commercial aspects of major developments and infrastructure projects including iconic structures roads bridges and utilities;
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills;
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
  • Proven track record of managing complex contracts and resolving disputes;
  • Strong ethical standards and professional integrity;
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities;
  • Team player with the ability to work independently when required;
  • Experienced user of MS Office and contract management software;
  • Experience of major projects in the Middle East Arabic speaking advantageous.
