Job description

We are currently looking for aSenior Buyerto join our growing team at Smit Lamnalco in the Sharjah Office. You will be responsible for managing endtoend procurement and supply chain processes related to dry docking operations subcontracting and vesselrelated purchases.

This role ensures timely and costeffective acquisition of goods and services in compliance with technical specifications. You will support and lead the implementation of structured procurement processes at tactical and operational levels working closely with the Procurement Manager to manage procurement activities for vessel dockings subcontracted services and operational vessel requirements.

Accountability and Responsibilities
  • Monitor supplier performance and provide regular evaluation reports.
  • Deliver monthly management reports including framework agreements SLAs and contracts.
  • Maintain and update spend reports and supplier databases.
  • Conduct market analysis and monitor project developments to support procurement activities.
  • Analyze opportunities for improvement across strategic operational and tactical procurement and supply chain processes.
  • Support the development and implementation of procurement strategies and operational processes.
  • Manage the complete tendering and sourcing process including evaluation preselection negotiation and contracting.
  • Establish negotiate and manage contracts and frame agreements focusing on risk mitigation and costeffectiveness.
  • Obtain subcontracting services within deadlines and in line with operational requirements.
  • Prepare commercial bid comparisons and recommendations for contract awards.
  • Oversee subcontractor and supplier prequalification and performance evaluations.
  • Process requisitions initiate RFQs and RFPs and conduct supplier negotiations.
  • Ensure costeffective purchasing in compliance with technical specifications safety requirements and legal regulations.
  • Monitor and expedite deliveries coordinating with suppliers freight forwarders and receivers.
  • Purchase spare parts and equipment as per specifications and deadlines.
  • Assist in the continued development of procurement and supply chain functions.
  • Support and assist team members in procurement activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree preferably in a relevant technical or supply chain discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 to 10 years of relevant work experience in technical purchasing.
  • Background in the shipping marine or offshore industries.
  • Proven experience with subcontracting services and contracting of shipyards.
  • Strong knowledge of technical and marine products terminology and industry practices.
  • Familiarity with local and international supplier networks and market dynamics.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and support multidisciplinary process approaches.
  • Experience in process optimization and change management is highly desirable.
  • Ability to independently manage procurement processes for both operational and projectrelated scopes in order to implement and showcase a multidisciplinary process / project way of working and approach.
  • Capable of identifying and executing procurement improvements in coordination with relevant stakeholders.

The successful candidatemust be living in the U.A.E. currently.
