Job description
Schroth-Trained Female Physiotherapist Scoliosis

Role Summary

  • Provide Schroth Method-based scoliosis-specific physiotherapy to adolescent and adult patients focusing on 3D spinal correction, postural re-education and breathing techniques to reduce curve progression and improve quality of life.
  • Deliver individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s curve pattern, functional level and goals as a conservative largely non-surgical management approach.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive scoliosis assessments including posture analysis, curve pattern classification, range of motion, pain levels, functional limitations and brace/surgical history.
  • Design and implement individualized Schroth exercise programs integrating muscular symmetry work, rotational angular breathing and 3D auto‑correction postures in various positions (sitting, standing, lying).
  • Educate patients (and parents when relevant) on scoliosis home exercise programs, postural awareness and activity modification to integrate auto‑correction into daily living and sports.
  • Conduct one‑to‑one therapy sessions (typically 45‑60 minutes) with hands‑on cueing, tactile guidance, mirror feedback and use of equipment such as wall ladders, poles, bands and therapy balls.
  • Monitor and document patient progress using clinical and functional outcome measures; liaise with referring physicians, orthotists and other team members as needed.
  • Support peribracing and perisurgical scoliosis management where appropriate focusing on posture, breathing and core stabilization.
  • Promote a safe, respectful and culturally appropriate environment for female patients ensuring privacy and comfort during assessment and treatment.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy / Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Valid physiotherapy licence/eligibility in the relevant jurisdiction (e.g. UAE licensing authority where applicable).
  • Formal Schroth certification (e.g. BSPTS, ISST or equivalent Schroth scoliosis‑specific exercise certification) with up‑to‑date status/continuing education.
  • Minimum 12 years of post‑graduate clinical experience with at least 1 year focused on musculoskeletal/orthopedic or pediatric/adolescent cases; prior scoliosis caseload experience strongly preferred.
Desired Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of scoliosis‑specific exercise principles: 3D auto‑correction, pelvic correction, spinal elongation, rotational breathing and postural control.
  • Excellent manual skills and cueing ability to guide complex postures and breathing patterns safely and effectively.
  • High level of patient education and communication skills to motivate adolescents and adults to adhere to structured home exercise programs.
  • Comfortable working with braced and postoperative scoliosis patients as part of a multidisciplinary care pathway.
  • Empathy, professionalism and cultural sensitivity when working with female patients and their families.
  • Ability to manage schedule, documentation and follow‑ups efficiently; basic comfort with EMR/clinic software.
Working Conditions
  • Outpatient physiotherapy / scoliosis specialty clinic setting with scheduled 1:1 appointments typically 45‑60 minutes per session.
  • Use of dedicated Schroth space with mirrors, wall bars, stools, therapy balls, bands and other props to facilitate 3D postural correction and breathing work.
  • May include flexible hours (evenings/weekends) based on patient demand especially for school‑age adolescents and working adults.
