Job Purpose

The Bay Co-Ordinator is responsible for overseeing allocated aircraft gates and stands, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely delivery of aircraft turnaround and cabin cleaning operations in line with Etihad Airways’ standards. The role ensures full compliance with airside safety protocols, operational procedures, and service quality expectations, while supervising multi-functional teams to deliver consistent, on-time performance (OTP).

Job Responsibility
Aircraft Turnaround & Cabin Cleaning Oversight
  • Coordinate and monitor all turnaround activities at assigned gates and bays to ensure they are carried out safely, efficiently, and within allocated timelines.
  • Supervise all cabin cleaning operations (cabin, galley, lavatories, and exterior as required) in line with Etihad Airways’ Cabin Appearance Manual and OTP standards.
  • Validate delivery of support activities such as trash removal, restocking, dry-wash, A-check cleaning tasks, and equipment preparation.
  • Ensure sufficient staff levels are available, correctly allocated, and deployed on time for all scheduled cleaning activities.
Safety, Security & Compliance
  • Enforce adherence to airside safety rules, PPE standards, and aircraft safety zones.
  • Proactively monitor staff health and safety during operations and escalate findings as required.
  • Make day-to-day operational decisions to manage and mitigate safety/security-related risks, escalating medium- and high-level risks to the Cabin Cleaning Controller.
  • Report, document, and escalate hazards, breaches, or near misses in line with company and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership & Coordination
  • Act as the primary point of contact between ground handling, catering, laundry, ADAC Airside Safety, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operational delivery.
  • Supervise and guide cleaning teams, ensuring attendance, punctuality, and compliance with allocated tasks.
  • Provide feedback on staff performance, addressing issues and recognising improvements.
  • Deputise for the Cabin Cleaning Supervisor when required.
Resource & Logistics Management
  • Ensure sufficient stocks of consumables, cabin dressing items, and cleaning chemicals are prepared and transported to bays.
  • Oversee delivery of equipment and supplies required to maintain uninterrupted service.
  • Confirm logistics and transport arrangements for staff are in place to support operations.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Produce bay shift reports and handovers, documenting cleaning activities, operational issues, and corrective actions.
  • Record turnaround and cleaning performance against standards and escalate variances.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and service quality.
Qualifications & Experience
  • College Certificate (minimum requirement).
  • 4–5 years of aviation/airport operations experience, of which at least 2 years must have been in a Team Leader, Supervisor, or equivalent role within ground handling or aircraft cleaning.
  • Knowledge of airside operations, aircraft turnaround processes, and cleaning standards (Etihad Airways experience preferred).
  • Valid UAE driving license preferred (eligibility to obtain airside driving permit).
Skills & Attributes
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide multicultural teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English (knowledge of Hindi, Arabic, Urdu, or Nepalese an advantage).
  • Solid awareness of airside safety, security protocols, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to manage time-critical tasks, prioritise effectively, and perform under pressure.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
