Job summary

Job description

Charterhouse is working with a company based in Jebel Ali that is looking for a Proposals Engineer to join the team to assist with the growth of an already successful business.

The company designs and manufactures Oil & Gas metering systems and produced water treatment solutions for the Oil & Gas industry and has been operating in the Middle East for over 12 years. The company started with its UAE office in 2001 and later opened an office in Saudi Arabia in Dammam.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain all necessary valid quotations for bought‑out equipment and services. Prepare and/or obtain all technical documents (drawings, calculations, proposals, etc.) and a valid cost estimate for the enquiry as per sales work instructions.
  • Ensure that all firm proposals have a completely clear scope of supply irrespective of the detail of the enquiry documents.
  • Attend bid clarification meetings (BCM) as requested by the manager; formulate answers and clarifications for approval by PM when required.
  • Ensure that all firm proposals are checked commercially and technically by the manager and/or in accordance with sales work instructions and/or the technical department.
  • Ensure that the technical design is in accordance with the latest company policy and that the technical department has approved any new or non‑standard designs.
  • Obtain the approval of the manager that the firm proposal may be passed with all relevant information to the Sales Manager, for the sales department to submit the full bid to the client.
  • Ensure that all proposals and official communications to clients are submitted in accordance with the agreed strategy and requirements.
Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation & Controls.
  • Have at least four years experience of creating proposals for process equipment for the Middle East Oil and Gas market.
  • Be able to communicate with engineering staff technically to help resolve any issues from the design stage.
  • Must have the ability to read P&ID drawings and interrogate them for any possible errors.
  • Have a good knowledge of costs and how to be as competitive with proposals as possible.
  • Able to use MS Office suite and Excel.
