Job description

As Production Manager, you will ensure goods and services are produced safely, cost-effectively, on time, and meet quality standards. The scope depends on the production system, often involving both human and material resources. The role may also be called Operations Manager, requiring 3–5 years of relevant experience in the field.

Requirements and Responsibilities

1. Oversee the production process, coordinating all activities and operations.
2. Plan and draw up production schedules, decide on and order necessary resources, and maintain adequate stock levels.
3. Select equipment, oversee its maintenance, modification, and procurement.
4. Set and maintain quality standards.
5. Possess a strong background in ordering raw materials at effective prices, especially in food production.
6. Ensure cost-effective production by estimating costs, negotiating budgets with clients and managers.
7. Monitor and adjust production schedules as needed.
8. Monitor productivity and product standards; implement quality control programs.
9. Organize repair of damaged equipment.
10. Liaise with departments, suppliers, managers, and clients.
11. Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines.
12. Complete customer orders on time, within budget, meeting quality standards and targets.
13. Collaborate with managers to implement company policies and goals.
14. Analyze data and prepare production reports for management and clients.
15. Manage, supervise, and motivate the team.
16. Review worker performance and identify training needs.
17. Participate in pre-production planning and oversee control and supervision during production.
18. Handle people and resource management aspects of the role.
19. In larger firms, collaborate with product designers, purchasers, planners, controllers, engineers, and supervisors.
20. The role may be integrated with marketing, sales, and finance functions.
