Purpose of the role

This role is part of our Dubai Regional Office (DRO) covering from Southern Africa to the Indian Subcontinent. We are looking for a Ports & Terminals (P&T) Procurement Manager to join our team in Dubai. You will be in charge of procurement and supplier relationship management for the assigned portfolio.

  • Be part of the wider Regional Procurement team as well as the larger Global Procurement community, where coordination and learnings take place.
  • Interact and work closely with leadership teams (internal and external) to foster partnerships and drive value through collaboration.
Responsibilities
  • Establish annual budget for the portfolio and actively manage with sourcing and optimization initiatives to deliver value.
  • Develop and manage relationships with incumbent and potential suppliers.
  • Analyze current spend patterns, identify cost drivers and opportunities.
  • Conduct market research and stay updated on industry trends to identify potential risks and opportunities and incorporate in category strategies.
  • Develop models to analyze should-costs, supplier offers, TCO/TVO to unlock opportunities of cost savings, value generation and optimization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their requirements for developing appropriate sourcing strategies.
  • Participate and provide inputs to Line Management based on market knowledge, ensuring cost-optimal deployment of assets, in line with contracts.
  • Lead creative idea generation workshops with suppliers and internal stakeholders and drive results in identified initiatives.
  • Conduct contract negotiations in line with the Group Purchasing process and the six-step sourcing methodology.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing & SLAs to ensure the best terms and conditions.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Operations teams to develop agreements that include SLAs, continuously improve contracting clauses, and ensure vendor accountability towards SLAs.
  • Close monitoring to ensure all agreements realize contractual value. Monitor supplier performance against contractual terms, report deviations and implement appropriate actions.
  • Own all aspects of the portfolio - costs, performance, supplier relationship management, stakeholders, systems, compliance, documentation and housekeeping, and keep information up to date on internal tools and category playbooks.
  • Support and provide input to the leadership team, execution teams, head office teams to drive alignment with local and global initiatives, improve synergies and implement global standards within contracts.
  • Create, evolve, and enhance the stakeholder map for the assigned portfolio as we work in a complex universe with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Enhance professionalization of the portfolio, including category playbooks, supplier relationship programs, and supplier performance dashboards.
  • Communicate complicated messages to senior stakeholders in a compelling way.
  • Participate in and provide input to wider cross-functional procurement strategy.
  • Execute and deliver on time in a high-paced environment.
Profile & Qualifications
  • 7-10 years with container terminals, ports, shipping, and logistics in procurement, operations or commercial capacity preferred.
  • Expert English spoken & written communication skills. French would be an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of ports and terminals operations and liner shipping operations.
  • Strong negotiating skills and experience with different types of negotiations.
  • Experience with Category Management & Supplier Relationship Management.
  • Demonstrated project management capability; ability to deal with ambiguity in a highly dynamic and complex environment.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and ability to build analytical models. Comfortable with analyzing and drawing inferences from large data sets.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and confident communicator; ability to exercise influence without direct authority and resolve conflicts.
  • Finance knowledge to draw meaningful conclusions from P&L accounts and financial statements of company reports.
  • Legal knowledge related to commercial contracts, concession agreements, etc.
  • Attention to detail and data-driven decision making.
  • Structured and proactive mindset with the ability to think creatively.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills - Excel, PowerPoint; knowledge of PowerBI and dashboards in Excel is an added advantage.
  • Ability to travel internationally in line with business requirements.
