An energy sector leader in the UAE is looking for a Process Engineer to design, optimize, and troubleshoot chemical processes in oil and gas extraction and refining. The role encompasses responsibilities like developing process simulations, ensuring compliance with standards, and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, 5–10 years of experience, and proficiency with process simulation software. This is a great opportunity to contribute to significant projects within the industry.
The Process Engineer will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting chemical processes that support oil and gas extraction, refining, and transportation. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in process simulation, safety, and systems integration to support project execution across various stages from concept through commissioning.
Develop process simulations and calculations for equipment sizing, heat and mass balance, and process flow diagrams using industry-standard tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, UniSim, ProMax, Petro-SIM).
Prepare and review PFDs, P&IDs, process datasheets, line lists, control philosophies, and operating manuals.
Perform detailed design of oil and gas process systems, including separation, gas treatment, dehydration, sweetening, and flare systems.
Provide technical input during FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup phases.
Support process safety analysis such as HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, LOPA, and QRA studies.
Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations (API, ASME, NFPA, IEC, ISO, etc.).
Collaborate with instrumentation, mechanical, piping, and control teams to ensure process deliverables are fully integrated.
Evaluate and optimize plant performance, troubleshoot issues, and recommend improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and productivity.
Assist in developing process design criteria, basis of design documents, and project execution strategies.
Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and technical audits.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Professional registration (ECSA, PE, CEng, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
Minimum 5–10 years of process engineering experience in the oil and gas industry (onshore / offshore).
Proven experience in FEED and EPC / EPCM projects in upstream, midstream, or downstream environments.
Familiarity with local and international regulatory frameworks.
Proficient in process simulation software (Aspen HYSYS, UniSim, Petro-SIM, ProMax, FlareSIM).
Sound knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, reaction engineering, and heat transfer principles.
Strong understanding of process safety, risk assessment, and environmental compliance.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication with ability to present technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams and under tight deadlines.
LNG, refinery, petrochemical, or FPSO project experience.
Commissioning and startup experience is a significant advantage.
Background in energy efficiency, emissions reduction, or digital plant optimization is a plus.
Familiarity with advanced data analysis tools and digital twin technology.
