Principal Consultant – Smart & Digital

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal Consultant with expertise in Smart Design to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in client management, project management, and a deep understanding of digital concepts within the built environment. As a Principal Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in leading projects, managing client relationships, and delivering innovative solutions that drive business growth and success.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the design and implementation of smart cities & building solutions, leveraging a wide variety of technologies to enhance cities & building efficiency and functionality.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand specific requirements and tailor smart cities & building designs to meet their needs.
  • Integrate core systems such as lighting, security cameras, alarms, sensors, and control systems to create cohesive and intelligent cities & buildings environments.
  • Utilize IoT devices including sensors, actuators, microchips, and software to collect data and improve operations.
  • Ensure seamless integration of smart cities & building technologies with existing systems, optimizing performance and functionality.
  • Drive innovation in smart cities & buildings design by staying updated on emerging technologies and best practices.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on the selection and implementation of smart cities & buildings technologies to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Lead end‑to‑end project management efforts, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and at the required level of quality.
  • Define project scopes, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with clients and internal teams.
  • Work closely with internal and external teams to set priorities, allocate resources, and ensure seamless project execution.
  • Collaborate across the business to leverage WSP’s well‑established engineering capabilities and drive innovation across projects.
  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities within the smart cities & buildings sector.
  • Present smart cities & buildings solutions to clients, highlighting the benefits and value proposition.
  • Build and maintain strong, long‑lasting client relationships through effective communication and proactive engagement.
  • Utilize expertise in smart cities & building design to tailor solutions that meet the specific needs of clients.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements and develop customized smart cities & building proposals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Digital Design, Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning or related field.
  • Minimum of 8–9 years of experience in digital design, with at least 3 years of specialized experience in Smart Design.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Adobe products, with a keen eye for design.
  • Excellent project management and technical delivery skills, with a drive for excellence.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across geographies and cultures.
  • Innovative and forward‑thinking mindset, with a passion for driving growth and unlocking opportunities for clients.
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects at scale and delivering high‑quality outputs.
