The Practice Manager will oversee and manage all operational aspects of the zoo veterinary center. This includes managing the daily operations, ensuring compliance with animal welfare standards, and supporting the team of veterinary professionals. The role requires an individual with leadership skills, veterinary experience, and the ability to manage a diverse team.
Responsibilities
- Handle business intricacies, including managing front desk staff, reception team, groomers, cleaners, accountants, pet hotel caretakers, and dog trainers.
- Conduct regular performance appraisals and ensure a positive work environment to meet organizational goals.
- Enhance client services through effective communication and maintain a practice philosophy to attract new clients and retain existing ones.
- Resolve pet owner complaints and financial issues by continuously refining policies, SOPs, and work protocols.
- Design plans aligned with the zoo veterinary center's mission and vision, oversee recruitment, marketing campaigns, hospital software, and safety procedures.
- Collaborate with the municipality and MOCCAE regarding regulations.
- Manage financial aspects, including accounts receivable, reconciliation, budgeting, tax planning, and inventory, while promoting client-centered care programs.
Requirements
Qualifications and skills required for the role include:
- Education: Preferred Degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent), qualifications in business management, administration, or related fields.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience in veterinary practice, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Skills: Strong leadership and people management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, and proficiency in veterinary management software and standard office applications.
- Personal Qualities: Passion for animal welfare, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, strong work ethic, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
