Production Planning & Control (PPC) Engineer – Steel Pipe Manufacturing

Industry: Steel / ERW Pipe & Tube Manufacturing | Experience Required: 1–5 Years | Location: Abu Dhabi

Job Summary

We are looking for a Production Planning & Control (PPC) Engineer with hands‑on experience in the steel pipe / tube manufacturing industry. The candidate will be responsible for production planning, material control, order coordination, and performance monitoring to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Production Planning & Scheduling
    • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on customer orders and plant capacity.
    • Coordinate with Production and Maintenance teams to ensure adherence to schedules.
    • Monitor daily production progress and report deviations from plans.
    • Optimize machine utilization and manpower deployment to achieve production targets.
  2. Material Planning & Control
    • Prepare coil requirement calculations and slitting plans as per pipe size mix and production schedule.
    • Coordinate with Stores and Procurement to ensure timely availability of coils, raw materials, and consumables.
    • Track coil consumption, stock levels, and leftovers to minimize material wastage.
    • Maintain accurate material inward, issue, and consumption records.
  3. Order Management & Coordination
    • Review customer orders, technical specifications, and delivery schedules received from Sales/Marketing.
    • Convert customer orders into production orders and update ERP/MIS systems.
    • Coordinate with Dispatch and Logistics for timely order fulfillment.
    • Share regular production and dispatch status updates with internal stakeholders.
  4. Data Recording & Reporting
    • Maintain daily production data including output, downtime, coil utilization, and yield.
    • Generate daily and weekly MIS reports for management review.
    • Support analysis of production deviations, bottlenecks, and performance trends.
  5. Process & Performance Monitoring
    • Track planned vs actual production and follow up for corrective actions.
    • Support re‑planning during breakdowns, material shortages, or urgent orders.
    • Monitor KPIs such as production efficiency, yield %, and downtime for continuous improvement.
  6. Coordination & Communication
    • Act as a coordination link between Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Logistics teams.
    • Ensure all departments are aligned with current production priorities.
    • Assist the Planning In-Charge during daily review meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
  • Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or Metallurgical Engineering.
Experience
  • 1–5 years of experience in PPC / Production Planning within the steel pipe or tube manufacturing industry is mandatory.
  • Experience in ERW pipe manufacturing processes (forming, welding, sizing, finishing, dispatch) will be a strong advantage.
Technical Competencies
  • Understanding of ERW pipe production flow and machinery.
  • Knowledge of coil width calculation, slitting plans, and yield analysis.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office.
