Job summary

A leading project management firm is looking for a Planning Engineer to be responsible for project forecasting and scheduling. The ideal candidate should have over 5 years of project planning experience with at least 2 years in the water industry. Proficiency in Primavera P6 and Excel is essential. Planning Engineer

Job Title: Planning Engineer – Responsible for project forecasting, scheduling accuracy, and execution control across all projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, update, and maintain Level 1–Level 4 project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Prepare baseline schedules aligned with project scope, BOQ, resources, and contractual milestones.
  • Identify and monitor the critical path, near critical activities, and schedule risks.
  • Track daily, weekly, and monthly progress and compare against baseline and look‑ahead plans.
  • Prepare S‑curves, dashboards, productivity reports, and earned value analysis (EVA).
  • Conduct CCPM buffer monitoring and support recovery planning.
  • Perform resource planning including manpower, equipment, and materials; execute resource levelling.
  • Forecast resource requirements and identify productivity gaps with site teams.
  • Conduct delay analysis using window analysis, impacted methods.
  • Support delay claim preparation, EOT requests, and documentation of delay drivers.
  • Assess schedule impact of scope changes, design revisions, procurement delays, and site constraints.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, QA/QC, HSE, and subcontractors for schedule alignment.
  • Participate in internal and client progress review meetings and present schedule performance.
  • Assist in monitoring project costs, comparing budget vs actual, and preparing cash‑flow forecasts.
  • Maintain schedule version control, update logs, and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Prepare structured, timely progress reports for internal teams and client stakeholders.
  • Ensure planning documents, assumptions, and constraints are clearly recorded and traceable.
  • Integrate schedule updates with ERP systems and develop Excel‑based trackers and analytics.
  • Analyse productivity trends, KPIs, and variances to recommend corrective actions.
  • Demonstrate ownership through proactive risk identification, early warnings, and solution‑driven behaviour.
  • Support preparation of as‑built schedules, closeout documentation, and DLP planning.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ Years in Project planning, with at least 2 Years in Water Industry.
  • Required Qualification: BE Mechanical or Civil.
  • Tools/Technologies: Primavera P6 proficiency, Excel proficiency, and ERP hands‑on.
