Responsibilities

  • Contact and teach students on an individual, class, or small group basis, both within and outside the classroom (push-in and pull-out sessions).
  • Prepare lessons and resources.
  • Mark and assess students' work.
  • Develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
  • Use special equipment and facilities, such as audio-visual materials and computers, to stimulate interest in learning.
  • Utilize specialist skills to address gaps in learning and understanding.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to define appropriate activities aligned with the curriculum.
  • Assess children with long- or short-term learning difficulties and work with colleagues to identify individual needs.
  • Work closely with parents and guardians.
  • Organize learning outside the classroom through activities like community visits, school outings, or sporting events.
  • Identify learning needs and coordinate appropriate support.
  • Create student-centered plans for individual behavior management (IBP).
  • Create student-centered plans for individual learning management (ILP).
  • Assist in students' personal care if needed.
  • Carry out administrative tasks, including updating and maintaining records of students' progress.
  • Attend reviews and meetings related to students with SEN, including education, health, care, and Individual Learning Plans.
  • Participate in in-service training.
  • Demonstrate strong behavior management skills.
  • Develop programs of learning activities.
  • Plan, prepare, and research lessons.
  • Prepare and adapt teaching materials.
  • Check and assess students' work and provide feedback.
  • Liaise with parents, external agencies, and professionals such as speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, and educational psychologists.
  • Write detailed reports.
  • Coordinate the work of support staff.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the School Principal.
