Job Summary:
This position is for a Project Engineer responsible for independently managing both local and international projects. The Project Engineer will be tasked with preparing engineering submittals, fabrication packages, PBOMs, O&M Manuals, project and sales design drawings, fabrication drawings, and shipping design layouts, as well as conducting site inspections and ensuring quality control. The candidate will report to the Team Leader and Engineering Manager.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage multiple projects (5-7) and serve as the primary point of contact for all client interactions and correspondence. The Project Engineer will submit equipment packages specific for the project, technical clarifications, design discussions, project progress, and review of the technical specifications and compliance statements.
- Has the ability to understand the clients requirements to effectively delivery a suitable solution to close out the project.
- Produce and compile Engineering submittal documents, Fabrication packages, O&M manuals, and Inspection test plans for project-specific requirements.
- Prepare design drawings required for the projects and sales support, this includes General arrangement drawings, P&ID / PFD drawings, Fabrication drawings, Installation drawings, and As-built drawings.
- The Project Engineer is expected to be able to select equipment and instrument based on project specification requirements.
- Generate accurate bill of materials (BOMs) and prepare requests for quotation documents including communicating with vendors for the equipment selection and clarifications.
- Perform and/or review and approve engineering design calculations to ensure that equipment is safe to use, and high-quality and cost-effective designs are produced. Some examples are pressure drop calculations for sizing the blowers, head loss calculations for sizing the pumps, motor sizing calculations, and airflow design duct sizing calculations.
- Able work directly with vendors to meet the project requirements, regardless of a project specification being provided by the client.
- Perform quality control inspections and collaborate with quality control engineers during fabrication and assembly to provide clarity and ultimately ensure that a high-quality product is produced.
- Coordinate and host inspections and witnessing of all equipment FAT testing at the vendor facility as required by the customer.
- Make all shipping arrangements to ensure that all equipment and ship-loose items being shipped globally are promptly delivered without any damage to the correct location.
- Provide support to Senior project engineers working on complex projects to lessen the workload and deliver the project on time.
- Collaborate with local and international team members to help the team accomplish each task efficiently and on time.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD is a must.
- Highly competent with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college/university.
- 5-10 years of work experience as a Mechanical Engineer related to Odor Control systems and wastewater treatment plants.
- Handling and driving projects from previous experience.
- Airflow Design for Ductwork Sizing and Perform blower/fan sizing calculations.
- Candidate must currently be based in UAE.
- Experience working on complex projects is a plus.
- UAE driving license is a plus.
- Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Additional experience but not required:
- Understanding of Fiberglass (GRP) fabrication and construction standards.
- Able to read simple Electrical Design Drawings/Diagrams.
- Visit job sites and take on‑site measurements to finalize as‑built drawings or to develop design layout drawings.
