Role Description

We are looking for a Light Technician to help design and support lighting solutions in our 24/7 live studio environment. In this role, you will be maintaining equipment, troubleshooting basic technical issues, and following safety guidelines. You'll work closely with team members and support the daily studio operations to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Responsibilities
  • Lighting Setup and Operation: Assist in setting up and operating lighting equipment in a 24/7 live studio environment, ensuring quality and consistency across various production requirements.
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate, monitor, and maintain studio lighting equipment. Troubleshoot and work with senior technicians to resolve any technical issues related to studio lighting equipment.
  • Daily Operations and Reporting: Report to the on-site manager regarding daily operations, equipment status, and any issues that arise.
  • Safety, Compliance, and Cross-Departmental Coordination: Ensure that all lighting setups and operations comply with safety regulations and industry standards, particularly in a continuous operation setting. Work with other technical departments to integrate lighting with audio, video, and other studio elements.
  • Recordkeeping Assistance and Industry Trend Monitoring: Help maintain accurate records of lighting setups and equipment usage, under the guidance of senior team members. Stay updated with industry trends and technological advancements relevant to live studio lighting.
Candidate Requirements
  • Lighting Technician Experience and Equipment Knowledge: Experience as a Lighting Technician in live studio or production environments. Familiarity with studio lighting equipment and control systems.
  • Light Plot Interpretation and Safety Standards Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret light plots provided by studio designers and the director of lighting. Understanding of safety standards and best practices specific to live studio operations.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Problem-solving skills with the ability to participate in technical issues under pressure in a live setting.
  • Team Collaboration: Comfortable working collaboratively within a diverse team and communicating effectively with senior technicians and on-site management.
  • Organizational Skills and Shift Flexibility: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Flexibility to work various shifts, including very occasional nights and weekends, to support the 24/7 operation of the live studio.
  • Language: Proficient in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with basic lighting software and tools used in live studio environments.
  • Technical Certification: Relevant technical certification or degree in lighting design, electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
