Recruitment Criteria
  • Australian or NZ curriculum experience or PYP background ideal / will consider all applicants open to IB philosophy
  • Bachelor of SEN + teaching qualification / non-negotiable for Ministry approval.
  • Undergrad psychology, B.Ed (SEN), NPQSEN or similar.

Job Spec
  • Offer high quality and appropriate teaching support to students with diverse needs including those with learning difficulties, disabilities (both diagnosed and undiagnosed), behavioural challenges, and gifted and talented.
  • Effectively manage and develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) / Student Success Plans (SSPs) in collaboration with teachers, parents, and specialists, for all students of determination and those on longer term Level 2 and 3 interventions, to address students’ specific needs and goals.
  • Liaise with external agencies and/or provide timely advice to parents in respect to external agencies to coordinate support services for students.
  • Provide guidance and support to teachers in implementing differentiated and modified curriculum to meet the needs of the learners addressed above.
  • Collaborate with parents to provide ongoing communication, support, and resources to enhance student well‑being and academic success.
  • Support parents who require a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for their child(ren) by providing and explaining the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and LSA Job Description.
  • Ensure LSAs are operating according to their job description and MOU. Coordinate with parents.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records, (including entry into SEQTA) of:
    • Student Success Plans / IEPss
    • Student database / Inclusion Register
    • Progress reports to teachers and Student Success Team
  • Provide appropriate guidance to teachers and leaders regarding assessment and reporting.
  • Implement and follow‑up on teacher referrals, communicating directly with teachers, line manager and Student Success Team.
  • Provide input to the ongoing development of associated policies and procedures related to inclusion.
  • Assist with the assessment of potential students who present with learning needs.
  • Audit resources and supply budget requirements as required to adequately support teachers and students with diverse learning needs.
  • Ensure smooth transition to different year groups at critical times i.e., Early Years to Primary, Primary to Middle.
  • Become trained and involved in Multilit, specifically those programmes related to small group and 1:1 interventions.
