Job description
Overview

Wood is recruiting a Lead Civil/Structural Designer to join its UAE Business Unit, focusing on developing working drawings within company and industry standards and codes for a Major Onshore Brownfield Project in Sharjah, UAE. This is a full-time office-based role in Sharjah, UAE.

Responsibilities
  • Develops working drawings, from equipment specifications and detailed drawings to support completion of engineering deliverables, within company and industry standards and codes.
  • Creates drawings involving plans, layouts, calculations and bills of materials.
  • Performs layouts, design and checking work from the basic data supplied; designs and makes detail drawings from rough sketches involving intricate calculations and the application of engineering principles.
  • Establishes project drafting standards and monitors their conformance; identifies cost-effective solutions to design problems.
  • Assists in the preparation of bid evaluations; generates bill of materials from finished designs.
  • Designs and constructs models, prototypes, processes or equipment; compiles and evaluates data, makes recommendations, and prepares reports.
  • Prepares estimates of time, quantities, materials and labour for activities related to testing, installation, manufacturing, design or construction; plans assigned work effectively and liaises with the project team and line manager to control man-hours and achieve targets.
  • Carries out site visits/surveys and provides inputs to site visit reports; may act as coordinator on small projects and prepare specifications for complex equipment or processes at more senior levels.

Required
  • B.Sc. or equivalent degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 10+ years relevant experience in major Brownfield oil & gas projects, including at least five (5) years in a similar position.
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
  • Demonstrable ability to execute EPC and/or EPCM contracts for onshore Brownfield Oil & Gas projects for major Oil & Gas companies.
  • Specific experience in executing lump-sum Oil & Gas projects across their lifecycle in the GCC region, preferred.
